Dehradun, November 3, 2026.
In preparation for the upcoming Uttarakhand Assembly Elections 2027, the Dehradun district administration has launched a special drive to identify voters with disabilities and facilitate the provision of necessary assistance during the electoral process.
Under the initiative, approximately 12,500 persons with disabilities receiving disability pensions from the Social Welfare Department will be mapped in the electoral rolls. The exercise is targeted for completion by November 30, 2026.
District Election Officer, Dehradun, has appointed District Social Welfare Officer Deepankar Ghildiyal as the nodal officer to oversee the effective implementation of the initiative and coordinate the work. The Social Welfare Department is conducting the mapping exercise to ensure that voters with disabilities can receive voting-related facilities according to their individual requirements during the upcoming Assembly elections.
Documents Required for Mapping
The District Social Welfare Officer has appealed to all persons with disabilities in the district to submit their documents at the earliest to facilitate timely completion of the mapping process.
The required documents and details include:
- Disability certificate
- Voter ID card
- Mobile number
These can be submitted to the Assistant Social Welfare Officer posted in the concerned development block or at the District Social Welfare Officer’s office at Survey Chowk, Dehradun.
The District Social Welfare Officer stated that completing the mapping exercise within the prescribed timeline will help ensure accurate identification of voters with disabilities. It will also support advance planning for the facilities and assistance required by them during the electoral process.
The initiative aims to make voting more accessible, convenient and inclusive for persons with disabilities in the upcoming Uttarakhand Assembly Elections 2027.
