UTTARAKHAND NEWS: UPCL receives award for PM Surya Ghar Yojana

DEHRADUN: The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has awarded the Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL) for its remarkable performance in the PM Surya Ghar Yojana. The Corporation has received this award for the fourth consecutive year.

The award was presented to the UPCL,MD  Anil Kumar Yadav by Union Minister Pralhad Joshi and Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma during the regional review meeting held in Jaipur on Tuesday. The award includes an incentive amount of Rs 9.5 crores.

UPCL MD Anil Kumar Yadav said that under the scheme, solar roof tops have been installed on more than 14 thousand houses in Uttarakhand so far, which is producing about 50 MW of electricity.

Energy Secretary Dr. R Meenakshi Sundaram, Additional Secretary Ranjana Rajguru were also present on this occasion.

Expressing happiness over the achievement of UPCL, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that Uttarakhand has registered a great achievement in PM Surya Ghar Yojana. This scheme is also a means of improving the economy of the people while reducing dependence on traditional sources of energy. UPCL deserves congratulations for this great achievement.
