Deadly Speeding Tragedy in Doon: Four Killed, Two Injured in Horrific Accident

Dehradun: A tragic road accident shook the city late Wednesday night when a speeding luxury car mowed down pedestrians near Uttaranchal Hospital, close to Sai Temple in the Rajpur police station area. The devastating crash claimed the lives of four individuals on the spot, while two others sustained severe injuries and were rushed to Doon Hospital for urgent medical care.

According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ajai Singh, the accident occurred when a silver Mercedes, bearing a Chandigarh registration number, was recklessly speeding from Rajpur Bus Stand toward Jakhan. The vehicle lost control near Uttaranchal Hospital, plowing into pedestrians and a scooty with tremendous force. The impact was so intense that four victims succumbed instantly, while two others suffered critical injuries.

The deceased have been identified as Ranjit Rawat (35) and Mansa Ram (30), both residents of Faizabad, Ayodhya.  They were daily wage workers returning home after their shift when the tragedy struck. The police team is identifying the two dead bodies.

Eyewitnesses recounted harrowing scenes of chaos and distress as bystanders rushed to help the victims. Authorities swiftly arrived at the scene, and the injured were transported to Doon Hospital for emergency treatment.

The police have launched an investigation into the incident, examining possible causes such as over-speeding and reckless driving. Further action will be taken against the driver following legal procedures.

This tragic accident once again raises concerns about road safety and the dangers posed by speeding vehicles in busy urban areas.
