Dehradun: In a significant step towards preventing land-related fraud and safeguarding the interests of property buyers, Uttarakhand’s first dedicated e-computer kiosk, Sachetak, was inaugurated in Dehradun on Wednesday. The kiosk, located near the registry office on the Collectorate premises, was formally dedicated to the public by District Magistrate Savin Bansal.
The initiative aims to provide easy and free access to land records and ownership verification before any registration process takes place. Highlighting the necessity of the kiosk, the District Magistrate noted that a large number of land fraud complaints have surfaced through platforms like Janta Darbar and multipurpose camps. He said the core issue behind these frauds is the lack of awareness among buyers regarding the true ownership of land.
“To address this, a dedicated land record portal has been developed by the state, containing comprehensive property-related information. However, many people do not have access to this digital platform. The Sachetak kiosk has been introduced to bridge this gap and empower citizens to verify land ownership before proceeding with purchases,” Bansal said.
The Sachetak e-kiosk allows prospective buyers to verify land details free of charge before visiting the Registrar Office for final registration. The kiosk is expected to act as a preventive measure against fraud and enhance transparency in land transactions.
“The Chief Minister has emphasized the need to make all citizen services more accessible, and Sachetak is a step in that direction,” the DM added.
The administration has also installed informative flex banners with awareness slogans across the Collectorate campus to further educate the public on land-related precautions.
Present at the launch event were Sub-Registrar Preeti Manjali, Chief Administrative Officer Kapil Kumar, E-District Manager Harendra Sharma, and officials from the Stamp and Registration Department.
