CM Dhami Seeks Saints’ Support for Grand Kumbh 2027 Preparations

DEHRADUN: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has called upon all saints and sages to extend their cooperation for the grand and divine organization of Kumbh Mela 2027 in Uttarakhand. Emphasizing the spiritual and cultural significance of the event, he said that the state government bears a major responsibility and the support of the saints is crucial to ensure its success.

Addressing a gathering in Haridwar, CM Dhami stated that the Uttarakhand government is committed to preserving the cultural heritage and demographic character of Devbhoomi. He highlighted the strict implementation of laws such as the anti-conversion law and anti-riot law, underlining the government’s resolve to maintain social harmony. He also mentioned the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in the state, calling it a historic step towards ensuring equal rights for all citizens.

The Chief Minister participated in the Ganga Pujan ceremony held at Sarvananda Ghat in Haridwar on Monday, in the presence of Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, and joined the Shobha Yatra to the newly inaugurated Mata Krishna Udyan.

During his address, CM Dhami paid tribute to Acharya Sadguru Swami Teunram Maharaj, describing him as a revered saint in the Sanatan tradition who devoted his life to charity and selfless service. He praised the saint for inspiring people to rise above social divides and embrace the values of love and devotion.

Dhami also lauded Om Birla’s tenure as Lok Sabha Speaker, noting the passage of several landmark legislations under his leadership, including the abrogation of Article 370, the anti-triple talaq law, the Citizenship Amendment Act, and the Waqf Amendment Act—all of which he said are propelling the country forward.

The Chief Minister highlighted the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in spearheading a cultural resurgence alongside development. From the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor to the Mahakal Lok in Ujjain, the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, and the grand organization of Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj, Dhami said these initiatives have re-established India as a global cultural hub.

He added that Uttarakhand is also witnessing a cultural and infrastructural transformation under PM Modi’s guidance. Major projects such as the redevelopment of Kedarnath and Badrinath Dham, the upcoming Haridwar-Rishikesh Corridor, and proposed ropeways to Baba Kedarnath Dham and Hemkund Sahib are progressing swiftly. Additionally, a Center for Hindu Studies will soon be established at Doon University, further promoting traditional knowledge systems.

“The government is committed to driving development while safeguarding cultural values. With the blessings and support of the people and saints, Uttarakhand will emerge as a leading state in the country,” Dhami asserted.

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, speaking on the occasion, praised the humanitarian work being carried out by Prem Prakash Mandal across India, especially in supporting underprivileged families. He applauded Swami Bhagatji Maharaj and Prem Prakash Mandal for upholding the spiritual and humanitarian ethos of India. The newly inaugurated Mata Krishna Udyan, developed by the Mandal in Haridwar, was hailed as a testament to their service-oriented mission.
