DEHRADUN: Tehsil Gambling Video Goes Viral: DM Takes Swift Action, Revenue Sub-Inspector Suspended

Tehsildar Appointed as Inquiry Officer; Identification of Other Employees Underway

Dehradun, 26 June – In a swift and decisive move, District Magistrate Savin Bansal has taken strict action after a video surfaced on social media showing government employees gambling within the premises of the Tyuni Tehsil. The video, which quickly went viral, showed revenue personnel engaging in a card game near the main entrance of the Tehsil office.

Following preliminary findings, Revenue Sub-Inspector Nagchand, posted in the Raigi area, has been suspended with immediate effect. The District Magistrate also directed the Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs) of Chakrata, Kalsi, and Tyuni to probe the matter without delay.

The inquiry confirmed the presence of gambling activities involving playing cards within government premises, and identified Sub-Inspector Nagchand as an active participant. Authorities noted that such incidents severely tarnish the image of the government and erode public trust in administrative institutions.

Pending further investigation, Nagchand has been attached to the Tehsildar office in Chakrata. For a comprehensive and detailed probe, Tehsildar Tyuni has been appointed as the investigating officer.

DM Bansal emphasized that indiscipline and misconduct in government offices will not be tolerated under any circumstances. He further directed officials to identify all individuals visible in the viral footage and to initiate appropriate departmental proceedings against them if found guilty.

“The administration is committed to maintaining the sanctity and integrity of public offices. Any act that compromises these values will attract strict punitive measures,” DM Bansal stated.
