Central Team to Visit Uttarakhand on Monday; PDNA Process to Begin Soon
State seeks ₹5,702.15 crore in special assistance to rebuild and safeguard infrastructure
Dehradun: Uttarakhand’s Disaster Management and Rehabilitation Secretary, Vinod Kumar Suman, announced that an inter-ministerial central team will arrive in the state on Monday to assess the extensive damage caused by this year’s unusually heavy monsoon.
Mr. Suman said that NDMA officials, including Department Head Rajendra Singh and Secretary Manish Bhardwaj, have assured all possible financial support to help the state recover. He added that the team’s visit will be followed by a Post-Disaster Need Assessment (PDNA) to determine the actual scale of losses.
“This year we have received 574 mm of rainfall so far — the highest in recent years — which has caused widespread damage across several districts,” he noted.
Tour Plan & Team Composition
The central team, led by R. Prasna, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs, will be divided into two groups. They will tour Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Pauri, Bageshwar, and Nainital to inspect the damage on-site.
The team includes:
Mahesh Kumar, Deputy Director
Sudhir Kumar, Superintending Engineer
Vikas Sachan, Deputy Director

All state-level preparations for the visit have been completed. A high-level meeting has been scheduled with the team in Dehradun on Monday to brief them on the ground situation.

In addition, a separate proposal will be submitted seeking assistance for people whose livelihoods have been affected.
