Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan Inaugurates Uttarakhand Book Fair at Doon Library

Dehradun, Saturday — Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan inaugurated the Uttarakhand Book Fair at the Doon Library and Research Institute, Dehradun. The fair, showcasing a wide range of literary works and publications, aims to promote a culture of reading and intellectual engagement among people of all age groups.

Following the inauguration, the Chief Secretary visited the various stalls set up by prominent publishing houses, authors, and institutions, where he interacted with exhibitors and appreciated their contribution to enriching literary awareness in the state.

Speaking on the occasion, Bardhan emphasized the importance of reading in personal and social development. He said, “Events like this encourage us to reconnect with books. In today’s digital age, it is essential that the youth—and indeed all of us—cultivate a friendship with books, as they are lifelong companions that broaden our horizons and nurture critical thinking.”

The inaugural ceremony witnessed the presence of several distinguished personalities, including former Chief Secretaries N. S. Napalchyal, N. Ravishankar, Radha Raturi, and former DGP Anil Raturi, who commended the initiative for its contribution to promoting literary and cultural values in Uttarakhand.

The book fair is expected to attract a large number of readers, students, and literature enthusiasts over the coming days, offering them an opportunity to explore new publications and engage with writers and publishers.
