**Big Boost to Air Connectivity: Garhwal Division Now Linked with New Helicopter Services
Dehradun–Tehri–Srinagar–Gauchar Routes Launched Under UDAN Scheme**
Dehradun: In a major infrastructure push, the Uttarakhand government has extended air connectivity to the Garhwal division, fulfilling Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s commitment to improving transport in the hill regions. After successful operations in Kumaon, helicopter services have now been launched from Jolly Grant Airport to New Tehri, Srinagar, and Gauchar.
The new 6-seater helicopter service, started under the UDAN – Regional Connectivity Scheme, will operate two flights daily between Dehradun and these key Garhwal towns. The launch has sparked excitement among local residents, tourists, and business communities.
Daily Flight Schedule

First Flight: 10:15 AM – Dehradun → Tehri → Srinagar → Gauchar

Return: 11:00 AM – Gauchar → Srinagar → Tehri → Dehradun

Second Flight: 2:30 PM – Same route
The service is expected to significantly reduce travel time and improve accessibility for locals, tourists, and emergency movement.

On the first day, 3 passengers travelled from Dehradun to Gauchar in the morning flight, while 5 passengers used the afternoon service.

Passengers reported that the new service has made travel “faster, safer and more convenient.”
Vikas Chauhan, travelling from Dehradun towards Gopeshwar, said:
“This helicopter service started under the leadership of Chief Minister Dhami is truly commendable. It saves a lot of time and will be extremely helpful during emergencies.”
After Kumaon, Garhwal Gets Air Connectivity Boost
Earlier, the Dhami government had linked several major Kumaon towns—Nainital, Champawat, Pithoragarh, Munsyari, Almora and others—via aerial routes. With today’s launch, the state’s remote mountainous regions are witnessing rapid improvements in air mobility, tourism, and economic activity.
