Dehradun Administration on High Alert Ahead of Union Home Minister’s Visit; DM Savin Bansal Conducts Ground Inspection with SSP

Arrangements at Hotel Godwin and approach road reviewed; officials directed to ensure tight security and logistics
DM orders completion of all preparations by this evening and seeks safety certificates from departments

Dehradun:
The Dehradun district administration has gone on high alert ahead of the proposed visit of Union Home Minister Amit Shah to Uttarakhand on March 7. A day before the visit, District Magistrate Savin Bansal, along with Senior Superintendent of Police Pramendra Singh Dobal, conducted an extensive ground inspection of security and logistical arrangements from Doiwala up to the Haridwar district border.

During the inspection, the District Magistrate directed all concerned departments to complete preparations in a time-bound manner through close coordination and ensure that security arrangements remain completely foolproof. He emphasized that there should be no scope for any lapse during the high-profile visit.

Inspection of Hotel Godwin arrangements

The DM and SSP also inspected Hotel Godwin in Raiwala, where the Union Home Minister is scheduled to take a brief rest and hold a meeting with party officials. The administrative team reviewed the arrangements inside the hotel as well as the approach road leading to the venue.

The District Magistrate conducted a detailed review of electricity supply, air conditioning, fire safety systems, lift operations, green room facilities, restrooms, meeting hall arrangements and parking management within the hotel premises. He directed the hotel management to immediately conduct a fire safety audit.

Instructions for backup power supply

The DM instructed officials of the electricity department to ensure a reliable backup power arrangement along with generators so that the programme is not affected in case of any power disruption. He clearly stated that there should be no shortcomings in logistical arrangements.

Departments asked to submit safety certificates

Directing all departments to complete the remaining preparations by this evening, the District Magistrate asked the Public Works Department, electricity department and other concerned agencies to submit safety certificates after verifying the arrangements. He stressed that all arrangements must be ensured with full responsibility and vigilance.

Focus on security, traffic and cleanliness on approach road

The District Magistrate also inspected the condition of the approach road leading to Hotel Godwin. He directed officials to ensure proper security deployment, traffic management, parking arrangements and cleanliness along the route. Special emphasis was laid on maintaining sanitation and strengthening security along the road.

Home Minister to review development works

It is noteworthy that Union Home Minister Amit Shah will arrive in Haridwar on Saturday to review development works carried out in Uttarakhand over the past four years, along with ongoing and proposed projects. A special exhibition showcasing the achievements and development initiatives of the state government will also be set up at the programme venue.

During the inspection, Senior Superintendent of Police Pramendra Singh Dobal, SP Rural Jaya Baluni, Additional District Magistrate (Finance and Revenue) K.K. Mishra, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Rishikesh Yogesh Mehra, and senior officials from departments including PWD, electricity, drinking water and fire safety were present.
