Governor Lieutenant General Gurmeet Singh (Retd.) felicitated Dehradun officials and staff for their exceptional service during the Sahastradhara-Karligad flood disaster, recognizing their dedication and leadership.

Governor Lieutenant General Gurmeet Singh (Retd.) today felicitated the officials and staff of Dehradun district who performed exemplary work during a recent natural disaster. The ceremony was held at Lok Bhavan, where the Governor praised the dedication and commitment of the awardees, calling them an inspiration for other personnel.
The recognition comes in the aftermath of the severe rainfall and cloudburst that struck the Sahastradhara-Karligad area on the night of September 15-16, 2025, leading to flash floods. Immediately after the incident, district administration teams reached the affected areas and initiated rescue and relief operations. Several personnel demonstrated exceptional courage and efficiency during this crisis, earning them this honour.

The Governor specially appreciated District Magistrate, Savin Bansal, stating that during the critical period, he acted as a “frontline leader,” demonstrating effective administration, excellent coordination, and prompt action with his team.
The Governor emphasized the importance of disaster management and preparedness as a top priority. He lauded the selfless service of the personnel, including security forces, administrative officers, and staff, who worked tirelessly during the disaster without concern for their own safety or comfort. Their dedication and sacrifice, he said, serve as a source of inspiration for society.
