Special Anti-Drug Pledge Campaign to Begin in Dehradun on September 14
DM Dr. Ashish Chauhan to Launch Campaign at Rishiparna Auditorium; Schools, Colleges, Offices and Industrial Units to Participate
Dehradun: A special pledge campaign against drug abuse will be conducted across Dehradun district from September 14 to September 30, 2026, under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA). The campaign aims to strengthen public awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse and encourage collective participation in building a drug-free society.
District Magistrate Dr. Ashish Chauhan will formally inaugurate the campaign at 11 AM on September 14 at Rishiparna Auditorium.
As part of the campaign, online and offline pledge-taking programmes will be organized across educational institutions, government and semi-government offices, industrial units, gram panchayats, urban local bodies, hotels, homestays and other institutions across the district.
Educational Institutions to Conduct Mass Pledge Programmes
The Higher Education Department will coordinate special programmes in colleges, universities, government and private educational institutions, coaching centres and hostels. Students will be sensitized about the physical, mental and social consequences of drug abuse and encouraged to take a collective pledge against substance abuse.
Under the direction of the Chief Education Officer, all government, aided and private schools, including residential schools, will involve students from Classes 1 to 12, teachers, staff and other concerned stakeholders in the campaign. The administration has emphasized ensuring 100 percent online or offline participation across schools.
Block Education Officers will compile and submit information related to participation from schools within their respective development blocks.
Government Offices and Industries to Join the Drive
All government, semi-government and corporation offices will organize collective pledge programmes for officers and employees.
The Industries Department will coordinate with industrial units, factories, construction units and corporate offices operating in the district to ensure collective participation of workers and employees. Details of the pledge programmes will be compiled in the prescribed format.
Gram Panchayats and Urban Local Bodies to Be Involved
The campaign will also reach communities through gram panchayats, municipal corporations, municipalities and nagar panchayats. Local residents and women associated with self-help groups will be encouraged to participate in pledge programmes and awareness activities.
Hotels, Homestays and Sports Institutions Included
The District Tourism Officer will coordinate pledge programmes at hostels, hotels and homestays operating in the district, along with collection of relevant certificates and participation records.
The District Sports Officer will organize online and offline collective pledge programmes at Maharana Pratap Sports College, Raipur, and other sports training centres for students undergoing training.
Online Pledge Certificate Mandatory
Participants taking the pledge online will be required to download their pledge certificate. All departments, institutions and organizations have been asked to ensure maximum and, wherever applicable, 100 percent participation of students, employees and citizens.
Photographs of pledge programmes, certificates and participation details in the prescribed format will also be compiled and submitted to the concerned departments.
The District Administration has appealed to all departments, educational institutions, industrial units, local bodies and other organizations to actively participate in the campaign and create greater awareness about the adverse consequences of drug abuse.
The campaign seeks to strengthen collective efforts towards creating a drug-free, healthy and aware society in Dehradun district.
