Historic Moment: PM to Inaugurate Delhi–Dehradun Economic Corridor on April 14

Dehradun: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the much-awaited Delhi–Dehradun Economic Corridor (Delhi–Dehradun Expressway) on April 14, marking a significant milestone in Uttarakhand’s development journey. The state government has begun extensive preparations to make the event grand and widely participatory.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami chaired a high-level meeting today at the Chief Minister’s residence to review arrangements for the Prime Minister’s visit. He described the occasion as a “golden chapter” in the state’s history and directed all departments to work in close coordination to ensure the event’s success.

The Chief Minister emphasized that the event should reflect both grandeur and Uttarakhand’s rich cultural identity. Cultural programs will showcase traditional Garhwali, Kumaoni, and Jaunsari folk dances and music. The venue will be designed with a blend of traditional aesthetics and modern arrangements, ensuring wide participation from local artists.

Appealing to the public, CM Dhami urged citizens to actively participate in the celebrations and join the roadshow carrying the national flag to create a festive atmosphere across the state. He also instructed officials to conduct a statewide cleanliness drive ahead of the event, ensuring a clean and welcoming environment.

A Major Boost to Development

Highlighting the importance of the Delhi–Dehradun Economic Corridor, the Chief Minister said the project will be a game-changer for Uttarakhand. It will significantly reduce travel time between Delhi and Dehradun, boosting tourism and enhancing connectivity.

The corridor is also expected to accelerate industrial growth, expand trade and logistics, and create new employment opportunities for the youth. It will strengthen the state’s economy and integrate Uttarakhand more effectively into the national growth framework.

The meeting was attended by Rajya Sabha MP Mahendra Bhatt and several senior officials, including Secretary Shailesh Bagauli, Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey, Dehradun District Magistrate Savin Bansal, Senior Superintendent of Police Dehradun, and Additional Secretary Banshidhar Tiwari, among others. All departments have been directed to ensure timely and efficient execution of preparations.
