Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami Reviews Preparations for International Kayaking and Canoeing Competition in Gadarpur
International sporting events will help establish Uttarakhand as a major hub for adventure sports and tourism: Chief Minister
Gadarpur/Udham Singh Nagar: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Saturday conducted an on-site inspection of preparations for the upcoming International Kayaking and Canoeing Competition to be held in Gadarpur, Udham Singh Nagar district. During the visit, he reviewed various arrangements related to the event, including facilities for athletes, security measures, technical infrastructure, transportation, accommodation, medical services, and other essential logistics.
The Chief Minister directed concerned officials to ensure that all preparations for the prestigious international event are completed on time and in accordance with prescribed international standards. He emphasized that all departments should work in close coordination to ensure a seamless experience for athletes, coaches, referees, and participants arriving from across India and abroad.
During the inspection, Chief Minister Dhami also experienced water sports activities firsthand and assessed the unique features of the venue. He stated that Uttarakhand possesses immense potential for adventure sports and that the state’s geographical and natural landscape is ideally suited for water sports, mountain sports, and other adventure-based activities. He added that the government is continuously working towards expanding sports infrastructure and providing world-class facilities for athletes.
The Chief Minister said that the state government’s vision is to establish Uttarakhand as a nationally and internationally recognized sporting destination. To achieve this objective, large-scale sporting events are being encouraged across the state, providing local athletes with opportunities to showcase their talent and gain exposure at global platforms.
He further noted that international sporting events not only promote sports but also boost tourism, local businesses, employment opportunities, and economic activities. Such events will strengthen Uttarakhand’s identity as a leading destination for adventure and sports tourism, attracting visitors from India and abroad to experience both its natural beauty and sporting opportunities.
Highlighting the government’s commitment to sports development, Chief Minister Dhami said that various initiatives are being implemented to promote sports culture at all levels. Efforts are being made to identify talented athletes, provide quality training and infrastructure, and encourage outstanding performers through various support mechanisms.
He instructed officials to ensure high-quality arrangements related to cleanliness, drinking water, healthcare facilities, security, traffic management, and emergency preparedness at the competition venue so that the event becomes a model of Uttarakhand’s efficient governance and hospitality.
