International Yoga Day: Mass Yoga Session at Parade Ground Promotes Health and Wellness
Dehradun: A grand mass yoga session was organized at Parade Ground, Dehradun, on the occasion of International Yoga Day. Thousands of participants enthusiastically joined the event and practiced yoga as per the Common Yoga Protocol, spreading the message of a healthy and balanced lifestyle.
The program was organized under the leadership of District Ayurvedic and Unani Officer, Dehradun, Dr. Mithilesh Kumar. People from all age groups actively participated in the event and performed various yoga asanas, pranayama, and meditation practices under the guidance of trained yoga instructors. The event commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp.
District Media In-charge and IT Expert Dr. D.C. Pasbola informed that the program was attended by Subodh Uniyal, Minister for Health and Education, Government of Uttarakhand; Saurabh Bahuguna, Minister for Skill Development and Employment, Government of Uttarakhand; MLA Khajan Das; Dehradun District Magistrate Dr. Ashish Chauhan; the Chief Development Officer; Chief Medical Officer; Additional District Ayurvedic and Unani Officer Dr. Savita Kothiyal; along with senior government officials, doctors, yoga instructors, and departmental personnel.
Dr. Pasbola further stated that, apart from the main event at Parade Ground, the AYUSH Department, Dehradun, also organized Common Yoga Protocol sessions in several remote and significant locations across the district, including Hanol (Mahasu), Tyuni, Chakrata, Lakhamandal, and other parts of Dehradun. A large number of local residents participated in these sessions, which aimed to promote awareness about yoga and encourage healthy living in rural and mountainous regions.
In addition, yoga sessions were conducted at all Ayushman Arogya Mandirs operating under the AYUSH Department, where local communities actively participated and learned about the benefits of yoga, pranayama, and meditation.
Speaking on the occasion, officials highlighted that yoga is one of India’s most valuable and ancient traditions, which has gained worldwide recognition as an effective means of promoting health and well-being. Yoga is not merely a form of physical exercise but also a powerful tool for achieving mental peace, emotional balance, and spiritual growth. Regular practice of yoga helps individuals lead a stress-free life, improve overall health, and develop a positive outlook.
Participants were encouraged to make yoga an integral part of their daily routine, adopt a healthy lifestyle, and contribute to spreading awareness about wellness within society.
