Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced that all private schools in Uttarakhand will now be connected to the Vidya Samiksha Kendras (VSKs), a centralized education monitoring system. Speaking at the foundation stone laying ceremony for a new hostel at Saraswati Vidya Mandir in Manduwala on Tuesday, the Chief Minister highlighted that Uttarakhand is the first state in India to adopt the Gujarat model of the VSK initiative. So far, around 16,000 schools in the state have been integrated into this innovative system.
The VSKs aim to provide the government with real-time data on teachers, students, and school activities, thereby enhancing transparency and efficiency in the education sector.
Praising the education reforms under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, CM Dhami noted that Uttarakhand was the first state in the country to implement the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. He added that the state is constructing 141 PM Shri Vidyalayas and several Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose residential schools to further improve infrastructure.
Highlighting the use of technology in education, the CM shared that virtual classrooms have been launched in 500 schools across all 13 districts. Additionally, NCERT books have been made mandatory in all government schools to ensure quality education.
To encourage academic excellence, the government is providing scholarships to meritorious students from both government and private schools from Class VI to XII. Top-performing students of Classes X and XII from each block are also being taken on educational tours across India.
CM Dhami also spoke about initiatives in the field of sports, announcing that national-level medal-winning athletes will be offered government jobs. He mentioned that new stadiums and sports facilities have been built across the state, along with scholarship schemes to support young talent.
