DEHRADUN: Uttarakhand has achieved a significant national milestone at WINGS INDIA 2026, the country’s premier aviation event held at Begumpet Airport, Hyderabad, from January 29 to 31, 2026. At this prestigious platform, Uttarakhand was conferred the “Best State for Promotion of Aviation & Ecosystem” national award.

This distinguished recognition reflects the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and the Uttarakhand Government’s progressive aviation policies, robust infrastructure development, and effective ecosystem building in the aviation sector. The award was presented by the Union Minister for Civil Aviation in the presence of senior officials and industry stakeholders.

Senior officials including Secretary Sachin Kurve, Additional Secretary Ashish Chauhan, and Sanjay Tolia, along with several eminent dignitaries from the aviation sector, were present during the award ceremony.

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, Uttarakhand has made remarkable progress in expanding air connectivity while ensuring a safe, smooth, and well-managed Char Dham Yatra through the strategic use of aviation services.
The expansion of helicopter services to Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri, development of heliports and helipads, enhanced passenger safety protocols, efficient disaster management, and effective deployment of aerial resources for emergency services have emerged as defining strengths of the state.

During the Char Dham Yatra, helicopter services have provided convenient access for senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and time-constrained pilgrims, earning widespread appreciation across the country. Additionally, Uttarakhand’s focused efforts to connect remote and border areas through air services, upgrade airstrips under the UDAN scheme, and promote heli-tourism were especially acknowledged at the national level.

Expressing his happiness over the achievement, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami stated that the award is the result of the collective efforts of the people of Uttarakhand, the state government team, and all stakeholders associated with the aviation sector. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to making the Char Dham Yatra more secure, environmentally sustainable, and technology-driven, while positioning Uttarakhand as a leading aviation and heli-tourism hub in the country.

The Chief Minister further said that this national recognition will open new avenues for tourism, investment, employment, and infrastructure development, providing fresh momentum to Uttarakhand’s overall economic growth.
