Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami unveils a strict action plan for Char Dham Yatra 2026 with focus on safety, AI-based monitoring, plastic ban, helicopter SOPs, traffic control, and improved pilgrim facilities.

Dehradun: Pushkar Singh Dhami has rolled out a comprehensive and strict action plan for the Char Dham Yatra 2026, emphasizing that human sensitivity must take precedence over commercial interests. He stated that ensuring the safety and convenience of pilgrims from across the globe is a “personal responsibility” of the administration.
The directives were issued during a high-level review meeting held at the Secretariat on Thursday.
🔶 Strong Push for “Green & Clean Yatra”
The Chief Minister directed officials to further strengthen the “Green & Clean Char Dham Yatra” initiative:
- Complete ban on plastic along the yatra routes
- Installation of collection boxes at multiple locations
- Active participation of local bodies, youth, and NGOs to turn it into a mass movement
🔶 Zero Tolerance for Fake News
Dhami warned that anyone spreading rumors or misinformation about the yatra will face immediate FIR and strict legal action.
🔶 Strict SOP for Helicopter Services
Clear instructions were issued regarding heli services:
- Mandatory regular maintenance and fitness checks of all helicopters
- Strict prohibition on overloading
- Adequate rest intervals between operations
🔶 High-Tech Monitoring with AI & Digital Systems
To manage large crowds efficiently:
- Slot-based darshan system to be implemented
- Real-time digital monitoring across routes
- Full activation of CCTV surveillance
- Deployment of AI-based monitoring systems
🔶 Pilgrim Facilities to be Strengthened
The government will enhance essential services:
- Medical units and temporary hospitals along routes
- Adequate supply of clean drinking water
- Expansion of toilets and shelter facilities
🔶 Crackdown on Overpricing & Supply Gaps
- Mandatory display of rate lists at all shops
- Ensuring uninterrupted supply of LPG, petrol, diesel, and essentials
- Appointment of nodal officers for daily monitoring
🔶 Traffic & Transport Management Plan
- Strict traffic control measures to prevent congestion
- Identification and operation of alternate routes
- Mandatory fitness certificates, green cards, and trip cards for all vehicles
🔶 Disaster Management on High Alert
The CM instructed authorities to:
- Identify vulnerable zones in advance
- Deploy SDRF and NDRF teams strategically
- Keep 24×7 control rooms and helplines fully operational for rapid response
🔶 Local Coordination & Dispute Resolution
Referring to past disputes over community kitchens (bhandaras), Dhami directed officials to ensure better coordination between locals and pilgrims to avoid conflicts.

CM Dhami reiterated that Char Dham Yatra is the lifeline of Uttarakhand. The goal is to make it safe, well-organized, clean, and technologically advanced, ensuring a seamless and memorable experience for devotees from India and abroad.
