Char Dham Yatra 2026 will begin on April 19 with over 10 lakh registrations already. CM Pushkar Singh Dhami emphasizes safety, infrastructure, and seamless arrangements for pilgrims in Uttarakhand.
Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has stated that preparations for the Char Dham Yatra 2026 are being carried out on a war footing, with a strong focus on ensuring the safety, convenience, and smooth experience of pilgrims. He described the yatra as not only a major religious event but also a reflection of Uttarakhand’s cultural heritage and hospitality.
The Chief Minister informed that the yatra is scheduled to commence on April 19, 2026. To ensure seamless management, special emphasis is being laid on strengthening roads, improving infrastructure, streamlining darshan arrangements, enhancing security measures, and upgrading transport facilities.
He directed officials to ensure the availability of all basic amenities along the yatra routes, including drinking water, sanitation facilities, healthcare services, and efficient traffic management.
Highlighting past challenges, Dhami noted that the 2025 yatra was disrupted for over one and a half months due to natural disasters. Despite this, more than 5.1 million श्रद्धालुओं (pilgrims) completed the pilgrimage. For 2026, over 1 million pilgrims have already registered, indicating strong enthusiasm.
He further added that Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam guest houses have received advance bookings worth over ₹5 crore, reflecting growing interest among devotees.
The Chief Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring a safe and comfortable pilgrimage for every visitor. He has instructed authorities to remain vigilant and continuously review arrangements.
Dhami also emphasized that coordination has already been established with all stakeholders, including hotel operators, dhaba owners, taxi drivers, and transport service providers, to ensure high-quality services throughout the yatra.
He assured that the administration will regularly share important updates and guidelines with pilgrims to help them plan their journey effectively. The Chief Minister also mentioned that he will personally review the preparedness in the coming days.
He expressed confidence that with coordinated efforts, Char Dham Yatra 2026 will be more organized, secure, and pilgrim-friendly than ever before.
