CM Dhami inaugurates Manjul Singh Manjila Memorial Cricket Tournament in Dehradun

Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated the Manjul Singh Manjila Memorial Inter Cricket Tournament in Dehradun and emphasized the importance of sports for youth development while promoting Khelo India and Fit India initiatives

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Wednesday formally inaugurated the Manjul Singh Manjila Memorial Inter Cricket Tournament organized by the Uttarakhand Press Club at Maharana Pratap Sports College, Dehradun. On the occasion, the Chief Minister himself stepped onto the ground to play cricket, encouraging the players and promoting the spirit of sportsmanship.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister emphasized that sports are essential not only for physical fitness but also for mental well-being. He noted that participation in sports helps instill discipline, teamwork, leadership qualities, and resilience among youth.

He further stated that the state government is continuously working towards the development of sports in Uttarakhand by expanding modern sports infrastructure and providing better opportunities for talented players to excel at national and international levels.

Highlighting national initiatives, he said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, programs like Khelo India and Fit India Movement have laid a strong foundation for promoting a sports culture across the country. These initiatives are inspiring youth to actively participate in sports and adopt a healthy lifestyle.

The event was attended by Cabinet Minister Khajan Das, MLA Umesh Sharma Kau, Director of Sports Dr. Ashish Chauhan, Director General of Information Banshidhar Tiwari, Uttarakhand Press Club President Ajay Singh Rana, along with other dignitaries and sports enthusiasts.
