Char Dham Yatra Resumes in Uttarakhand After Improvement in Weather Conditions

Dehradun, September 28, 2026: The Char Dham Yatra in Uttarakhand has resumed after an improvement in weather conditions. The pilgrimage had been temporarily suspended from the afternoon of September 26 until September 27, 2026, in view of adverse weather and to ensure the safety of pilgrims and devotees.

Garhwal Commissioner Anand Swarup said the decision to suspend the pilgrimage was taken on the basis of the weather forecast issued by the Meteorological Centre. Following an improvement in weather conditions, necessary directions have been issued to all concerned District Magistrates for resuming the pilgrimage.

He said that District Magistrates may take necessary decisions regarding the operation of the Char Dham Yatra based on local weather conditions, road and route conditions, and other ground-level circumstances in their respective districts. If heavy rainfall, landslides, road blockages or any other situation creates a safety risk on a particular route, the concerned District Magistrate may temporarily suspend the pilgrimage in that area.

Garhwal Commissioner Anand Swarup said that the safety of pilgrims and devotees remains the administration’s top priority during the Char Dham Yatra. Authorities are continuously monitoring weather conditions as well as the status of pilgrimage routes so that timely action can be taken according to the prevailing situation.

The administration has appealed to pilgrims and devotees to obtain the latest weather forecast and information about route conditions before beginning their journey. Pilgrims have also been advised to follow all instructions issued by the local administration and undertake the Char Dham Yatra only after considering the prevailing weather and route conditions.
