CM Dhami Joins Har Ghar Tiranga Yatra in Dehradun, Urges People to Hoist Tricolour at Homes
Dehradun: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in the Har Ghar Tiranga Yatra organised at Gandhi Park in Dehradun on Sunday and urged people across the state to hoist the national flag at their homes on Independence Day and keep the spirit of patriotism alive.
Calling the Tiranga Yatra a celebration of national pride, Chief Minister Dhami said the Tricolour is a symbol of the self-respect, unity and national identity of millions of Indians. He said freedom fighters and brave soldiers made immense sacrifices to protect the honour of the national flag.
The Chief Minister also paid floral tributes to late Indramani Badoni, a prominent leader of the Uttarakhand movement, and Bharat Ratna Dr BR Ambedkar at their statues near Dehradun’s Clock Tower. He then joined thousands of people in the Tiranga Yatra from Gandhi Park to Clock Tower.
CM Dhami said patriotism is deeply rooted in every part of Devbhoomi Uttarakhand. He described Uttarakhand as both a land of spirituality and a land of valour, noting that the state has given countless brave soldiers to the country.
He said India is moving rapidly towards becoming a global power under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The country’s economy is progressing at a fast pace, while initiatives such as Make in India, the digital revolution and indigenous technologies are strengthening India’s journey towards self-reliance.
Dhami said India’s defence capabilities have also strengthened under the Prime Minister’s leadership. Referring to the surgical strike and Operation Sindoor, he said India has demonstrated its military strength and resolve to the world. He added that the country is moving towards becoming a major exporter in the defence sector.
The Chief Minister said the state government is working in line with the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 and focusing on strengthening education, healthcare, roads, electricity, drinking water and air connectivity across Uttarakhand.
He said a development roadmap has been prepared through specialised policies covering more than 30 sectors. According to the Chief Minister, the state’s economy has expanded significantly, with GSDP registering a 7.23% growth over the past year, while per capita income has recorded a historic 41% increase.
Dhami further said that more than 20,000 new industries have been established in the state and the number of startups has crossed 1,750. He also claimed that reverse migration has increased by up to 44%, while Uttarakhand has secured the top position in the country in achieving Sustainable Development Goals.
The Chief Minister asserted that the original cultural and social character of Uttarakhand would be protected and said that no one would be allowed to tamper with the identity of Devbhoomi.
He highlighted several legislative measures taken by the state government, including a strict anti-conversion law, a stringent anti-riot law and the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), making Uttarakhand the first state in the country to implement the law.
Dhami also said that the state has replaced the Madrasa Board with the Uttarakhand State Minority Education Authority. He claimed that action had been taken against more than 250 illegal madrasas, which were subsequently closed.
The Chief Minister said the state government has intensified its campaign against encroachment and freed more than 13,000 acres of government land from illegal occupation. He added that strict action has also been taken against corruption.
On employment, Dhami said that after the implementation of a stringent anti-cheating law, more than 34,000 young people have secured government jobs in the past nearly five years without irregularities.
He said the government’s objective is not merely to make young people job seekers but to help them become job creators. Various initiatives, including the Mukhyamantri Swarozgar Yojana, homestay schemes and tourism policies, are being used to promote self-employment, entrepreneurship and livelihood opportunities among the youth.
Rajya Sabha MPs Mahendra Bhatt and Naresh Bansal, Cabinet Ministers Ganesh Joshi and Saurabh Bahuguna, MLAs Khajan Das, Umesh Sharma Kau, Vinod Chamoli and Savita Kapoor, Dehradun Mayor Saurabh Thapliyal, Mahanagar President Siddharth Agarwal, General Secretary Kundan Parihar, Deepti Rawat and several other public representatives, party functionaries and citizens attended the programme.
