CM Pushkar Singh Dhami Inaugurates 49th Shri Kunjapuri Tourism and Development Fair in Tehri Garhwal
Announces Major Development Projects, Highlights Transparent Governance and Local Empowerment

Tehri Garhwal: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated the 49th Shri Kunjapuri Tourism and Development Fair on Monday in Tehri Garhwal by hoisting the flag and formally declaring the nine-day fair open. On this occasion, the Chief Minister inaugurated the development exhibition, inspected departmental stalls, and paid tribute by garlanding the statues of immortal martyrs and the Freedom Struggle Martyrs Memorial.
Major Announcements for Local Development

During the inauguration, CM Dhami made several key announcements aimed at boosting local development and tourism. He approved the:

Construction of remaining 400-meter flood protection works at Dhalwala.

Development of surface parking and approach road at Kharasrot Gadera, Muni Ki Reti, under preparations for Kumbh Mela 2027.

Reconstruction of canals damaged by natural calamities in Narendranagar.

Construction of community halls at Tapovan and Pavki Devi (Dogi), and extension of the existing hall in Narendranagar Kumhar Kheda.

Paving of road to Kumhar Kheda community hall and reconstruction of the road from Pant’s shop to the sugar warehouse in Muni Ki Reti–Dhalwala.

Establishment of Sub Registrar Office in Narendranagar.

Reconstruction of six houses in Valmiki Basti.

Installation of an automatic ventilator (anesthesia work machine) at Shridev Suman Sub-District Hospital.

Setting up of an ANM Training Center in Narendranagar.

Beautification of Bhuvneshwari Devi Temple in Hardisera and Pawali Devi Temple.
The Chief Minister also announced that proposals for a parking lot in Gullarbogi and check dams in Mansera, Bhagodi, and Bhaintola Tok on the Whale River would be included in the Chief Minister’s official announcements.
Preserving Cultural Heritage and Boosting Tourism
Extending greetings to all on the occasion, CM Dhami said that the blessings of Maa Kunjapuri are a source of inspiration for everyone. He described the fair as a symbol of faith, cultural heritage, and glorious tradition, which has been continuously celebrated since 1974. The fair, he said, plays a vital role in promoting trade, tourism, and regional development.
“India’s identity lies in its eternal culture and values,” the Chief Minister said. “Our culture is not merely a collection of customs but a positive philosophy that guides us towards progress.”
Development Driven by Culture and Faith
The Chief Minister emphasized that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the nation is witnessing unprecedented efforts to preserve and promote India’s cultural heritage. He added that the state government, guided by the same vision, is committed to holistic development while safeguarding Uttarakhand’s religious and spiritual identity.
Strengthening the Local Economy
Highlighting efforts to tackle migration and unemployment, CM Dhami said that the state government is implementing several initiatives to strengthen the local economy and promote tourism.
He noted that the ‘House of Himalayas’ brand has significantly enhanced the national and international recognition of local products. Various policies like the Farm Machinery Bank, Film Policy, Apple Mission, and Homestay Policy are collectively empowering local communities and creating self-employment opportunities.
Transparent Governance and Employment
The Chief Minister underlined that Uttarakhand is the first state in the country to implement the Uniform Civil Code (UCC). He added that with the enactment of the Anti-Cheating (Anti-Plagiarism) Law, recruitment in the state has become fully transparent, resulting in over 26,000 youth securing government jobs in the past four years.
He also mentioned the government’s strong stance against illegal encroachments and forced religious conversions, which have contributed to establishing Uttarakhand as a model of transparent and disciplined governance.
Fair as a Reflection of Unity and Progress
Cabinet Minister Subodh Uniyal, who also holds portfolios including Forest, Technical Education, and Language, said that the Maa Kunjapuri Fair serves as a vital platform to showcase the rich cultural heritage of the region and the nation. He added that with collective efforts, the fair is continuously expanding its scope towards sports, culture, and development.
