Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Tuesday paid heartfelt tributes to former Uttarakhand Chief Minister and former Union Minister Late Major General Bhuwan Chandra Khanduri at his residence in Basant Vihar, Dehradun.
Soon after returning to Dehradun from his Chhattisgarh visit, the Chief Minister went directly to Khanduri’s residence and offered floral tributes while paying his respectful homage to the departed leader.
Expressing deep sorrow over his demise, CM Dhami said that the life of Late Major General Bhuwan Chandra Khanduri was an inspiring example of discipline, patriotism, honesty, and dedication to public welfare. After rendering distinguished service in the Indian Army, he continued to uphold high ideals in politics and public life as well.
The Chief Minister said that Khanduri made a significant contribution towards strengthening the foundations of development, good governance, and transparent administration in Uttarakhand. During his tenure, he took several visionary and welfare-oriented decisions keeping public interest at the forefront, the benefits of which are still being received by the people of the state today.
CM Dhami also met the bereaved family members, including Assembly Speaker Ritu Khanduri, and conveyed his heartfelt condolences. He prayed to God to give strength and courage to the family in this difficult time.
Describing the late leader as not only a politician but also a disciplined soldier, an able administrator, and a widely respected public figure, the Chief Minister said that his demise is an irreparable loss not only to Uttarakhand but to the entire nation.
He prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul and strength for the grieving family members and supporters to bear this immense loss.
Several public representatives, senior officials, social workers, and eminent citizens were also present on the occasion.
