25 December, Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami paid heartfelt tributes to Veer Chandra Singh ‘Garhwali’, the legendary hero of the historic Peshawar incident, on his birth anniversary. The Chief Minister offered floral tributes to Garhwali’s portrait at the Chief Minister’s residence and remembered his extraordinary contribution to India’s freedom struggle.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister said that Veer Chandra Singh Garhwali set an unparalleled example of patriotism, courage, and moral integrity by refusing to carry out the British order to open fire on unarmed and peaceful civilians who were protesting for India’s independence. His brave decision reflected an unshakable commitment to the nation’s freedom and the highest values of humanity.

Chief Minister Dhami stated that the Peshawar incident holds a special and historic place in India’s struggle for independence. This courageous act not only exposed the inhuman policies of the colonial rulers but also infused new energy, confidence, and revolutionary momentum into the freedom movement. He said that such historic events provided a new direction to the national struggle and strengthened the spirit of resistance among Indians.
