Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami Pays Tribute to Shaheed Udham Singh on Martyrdom Day, Calls for Upholding His Ideals of Patriotism and Sacrifice
Gadarpur (Udham Singh Nagar), July 31: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami paid floral tributes to the statue of legendary freedom fighter Shaheed Udham Singh on the occasion of his martyrdom day at Kamboj Dharamshala in Gadarpur. He also participated in the Akhand Path and offered prayers at the Gurudwara, seeking peace, prosperity, and well-being for the people of the state.
Paying homage to Guru Sahib and Shaheed Udham Singh, the Chief Minister said the occasion represented a unique confluence of courage, patriotism, and spiritual devotion. He remarked that every Indian feels immense pride while remembering the unmatched bravery, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment of Shaheed Udham Singh towards the nation.
Referring to the Jallianwala Bagh massacre of April 13, 1919, Dhami described it as one of the darkest chapters in Indian history. He said the brutal massacre left an indelible mark on the nation’s conscience, and Udham Singh dedicated his life to avenging the innocent victims. By punishing those responsible, he demonstrated India’s courage, dignity, and unbreakable resolve before the world.
The Chief Minister said Shaheed Udham Singh’s life continues to inspire generations with the values of patriotism, self-respect, courage, and supreme sacrifice. His legacy motivates young Indians to place the nation above self and actively contribute to nation-building.
Dhami also said that the teachings of Sri Guru Granth Sahib inspire humanity with the values of truth, compassion, equality, brotherhood, and selfless service. These timeless principles, he added, continue to guide society and strengthen the spirit of national unity.
The Chief Minister acknowledged the significant contribution of the Sikh community to the development, social harmony, and cultural richness of Uttarakhand. Appreciating their role in education, public service, and nation-building, he reaffirmed the state’s commitment to inclusive development.
Calling upon citizens to follow the ideals of Shaheed Udham Singh, the Chief Minister urged everyone to dedicate themselves to the service of the nation and contribute to building a stronger, united, and prosperous India.
