Rishikesh/Dehradun, July 5: Giving a significant boost to infrastructure and public development in Dehradun district, Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd.) and Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for 51 development projects worth ₹219.29 crore during the “Seva Pakhwada” programme held at IDPL Ground, Rishikesh.

The projects include the foundation laying of 38 development works worth ₹172.78 crore and the inauguration of 13 completed projects worth ₹46.50 crore. These initiatives are aimed at strengthening road connectivity, bridges, flood protection, irrigation infrastructure, tourism facilities, education, animal husbandry, and urban development across Dehradun district.

District Magistrate Dr. Ashish Chauhan expressed his gratitude to the Governor and the Chief Minister, stating that these projects would accelerate the district’s overall development and significantly improve public infrastructure and civic amenities.

Foundation Stones Laid for 38 Major Development Projects

The newly launched projects cover several Assembly constituencies, including Sahaspur, Mussoorie, Raipur, Dharampur, Doiwala, Cantonment, and Chakrata.

Key projects include:

  • Construction of interlocking tile roads from Lalit Mohan Bhadola’s residence to Bhadrakali Temple in Bhagwanpur, Sahaspur.
  • Surface improvement of the Malsi Link Road in the Mussoorie Assembly constituency.
  • Upgradation of internal roads in Doon Vihar.
  • Construction of an interlocking road from Vilaspur Main Road to Vilaspur Enclave.
  • Improvement of internal roads and drainage in Salawala.
  • Construction of RCC and PSC girder bridges on New Cantt Road.
  • Road development works in Laxmipuram, Prayag Enclave, Nakraunda and surrounding areas.
  • Reconstruction of nearly 20 km of disaster-damaged roads in the Raipur region.

Major Focus on Flood Protection and River Management

The government also approved several flood protection and river conservation projects to safeguard vulnerable areas.

These include:

  • Cleaning of the Asan River and construction of protective embankments.
  • Channelization works on the Song River.
  • Flood protection along both banks of the Suswa River.
  • Flood mitigation projects on the Dulhani River.
  • Protection works in Defence Colony, Jogiwala, and adjoining drainage channels.
  • Safety walls and embankments along the Tons and Noon rivers.

Irrigation Infrastructure to Receive Major Boost

Several irrigation projects have been approved for Chakrata, Vikasnagar, Doiwala, Raipur, and Sahaspur, including:

  • Construction of new pipeline canals.
  • Renovation of existing irrigation canals.
  • Restoration of Bullawala, Chhidrawala, Gularani and other canal systems.
  • Modernization of the Kalanga Ganga Canal and Kanwali Canal.
  • Underground canal reconstruction and widening works.

Tourism, Urban Infrastructure and Animal Welfare Projects

The development package also includes projects aimed at promoting tourism, improving civic infrastructure and strengthening livestock facilities.

Major initiatives include:

  • Development of the Khadri Amrit Sarovar as a tourism and water sports destination.
  • Construction of the PMU office building of the Uttarakhand Integrated Horticulture Development Society.
  • Reconstruction of Government Primary School, Badripur.
  • Construction of modern cow shelters at Majri (Doiwala) and Bhopalpani (Raipur).
  • Installation of LED street lighting from Mussoorie Diversion Chowk to Library Chowk.
  • Upgradation and strengthening of ISBT Dehradun.
  • Landscaping and beautification of the Jharipani Track in Mussoorie.

13 Completed Projects Dedicated to the Public

The Governor and Chief Minister also inaugurated 13 completed development works, including:

  • Rural and urban road projects in Raipur and Doiwala.
  • Road improvement works along Haridwar Road.
  • A state-of-the-art veterinary hospital in Doiwala.
  • Video conferencing facilities at Sudhowala Jail.
  • New building of Government Girls Inter College, Ajabpur Kalan.
  • Miyanwala canal development project.
  • Upgradation of the Dharkot–Ladwakot Motor Road.
  • Construction of a bathing ghat at Haripur Kalsi.
  • Development of a riverside park along the Rispana River.
  • Landscaping and beautification of Miyanwala Park, Gaura Devi Park, and the Artificial Lake.

Comprehensive Development for Dehradun

The ₹219.29 crore development package is expected to significantly strengthen Dehradun’s infrastructure by improving transportation, irrigation networks, flood management systems, tourism facilities, public utilities, educational institutions, and urban amenities. The projects are aimed at enhancing the quality of life for residents while supporting the district’s long-term, sustainable development.
