Dehradun Administration on Alert Amid Rainfall, QRTs Deployed in Waterlogging-Prone Areas
DM Dr. Ashish Chauhan Directs Swift Action; Officials Deployed to Monitor Sensitive Locations
Dehradun: The Dehradun district administration has remained fully alert in view of the rainfall reported across the district since Sunday morning. Prioritizing public safety, smooth traffic movement and essential public services, District Magistrate Dr. Ashish Chauhan has directed all concerned departments to remain active in the field and ensure immediate action in case of any rain-related situation.
As per the DM’s directions, QRT (Quick Response Team) nodal officers are conducting field inspections across their respective areas. Executive Officers of urban local bodies, along with officials and teams from the Irrigation Department, Public Works Department (PWD), Police, Traffic Police and other concerned departments, are also monitoring ground conditions.
Teams are inspecting waterlogging-prone areas, sensitive locations and major roads across the district. Wherever water accumulation, blocked drainage, traffic disruption or any other issue is being reported, the concerned teams are reaching the spot and taking necessary action on priority.
Sensitive locations are being identified on the ground, particularly those where continued rainfall could lead to waterlogging or disruption of traffic. Officials have been instructed to ensure that reported problems are addressed promptly through on-site intervention.
District Magistrate Dr. Ashish Chauhan is personally monitoring the rainfall situation in Dehradun. Regular updates are being obtained from field officials, and necessary directions are being issued to the concerned departments based on the latest ground reports.
The DM has instructed officials to remain present in the field during the rainfall and maintain continuous surveillance of sensitive areas. In case of waterlogging, road blockages, drainage-related problems or any other public inconvenience, officials have been directed to reach the location immediately and ensure timely resolution.
The District Magistrate has emphasized close coordination among all concerned departments. Police, Traffic Police, urban local bodies, Irrigation Department and PWD teams have been instructed to respond quickly according to the situation on the ground so that traffic movement and normal life are minimally affected by the rainfall.
The administration is maintaining an active response mechanism through QRTs and field officials in sensitive areas. The objective is to identify potential problems at an early stage and ensure a quick and coordinated response.
The district administration has appealed to citizens to avoid unnecessary movement through waterlogged areas, near rivers and streams, and other sensitive locations during rainfall. Citizens have also been requested to promptly inform the concerned administrative authorities about waterlogging, road blockages, drainage problems or any other rain-related issue.
The administration has advised residents to remain cautious during the rainfall and travel only when necessary. It has assured that the situation is being continuously monitored and all necessary measures are being taken on priority to ensure public safety and convenience.
