Dehradun, July 2: To ensure the peaceful and fair conduct of the three-tier panchayat general elections-2025-26, Section-163 has been enforced across the constituency. Orders in this regard have been issued by Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Jai Bharat Singh.
The ADM highlighted concerns that certain anti-social elements might attempt to disrupt the election process, disturb communal harmony, or polarize voters by inciting religious sentiments. There is also apprehension that political parties, organizations, candidates or individuals could try to influence voters unfairly, thus compromising the integrity of the election.
In light of this, the ADM has issued a set of prohibitory orders under Section-163:
No meetings or gatherings at public places will be allowed without the prior permission of the Returning Officer (RO) in the three-tier panchayat areas.
Formation of groups exceeding five persons is prohibited.
Road shows, processions, public meetings, or rallies require prior permission from the Pargana Magistrate.
Use of loudspeakers near schools, courts, hospitals, and religious places is banned.
Spreading false news or inciting caste or religious sentiments is strictly prohibited.
Religious places cannot be used for election campaigning.
Political parties or candidates cannot intimidate or lure voters, nor transport voters using vehicles.
Except for voters, candidates, election agents, polling agents, and authorized officials, no person is allowed within 200 meters of polling stations on polling days.
From the dates of nomination, any kind of procession or demonstration by vehicle within 200 meters of the nomination site is prohibited.
Use of government vehicles for election campaigning is banned.
The order has been issued unilaterally in public interest, and any violation will be punishable under Section-223 of the Indian Civil Security Code.
