CM Pushkar Singh Dhami Performs Yamuna Aarti, Prays for Peace, Prosperity and Public Welfare
Dehradun:
The ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ was ceremonially launched in Dehradun on Thursday with the objective of taking the welfare schemes, policies and achievements of the Central and State governments to the people and connecting eligible beneficiaries directly with government programmes.
The month-long campaign will run from September 17 to October 18, 2026, with a focus on ensuring that the benefits of development and welfare schemes reach the last mile, while strengthening public participation and awareness.
Dehradun Illuminated with Over 25,000 Diyas
As part of the launch, a grand ‘Aashirwad Ka Diya’ programme was organised across Dehradun district. More than 25,000 diyas were lit at various locations, creating an atmosphere of collective participation and celebration.
A special Yamuna Aarti and ‘Aashirwad Ka Diya’ programme was also organised on the banks of the Yamuna. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami lit a diya and performed the aarti, praying for peace, prosperity and the welfare of the people of Uttarakhand.
In the presence of saints, devotees and local residents, the simultaneous lighting of 2,100 diyas illuminated the Yamuna riverbank and created a deeply devotional atmosphere.
Health Department Highlights Maternal Health Awareness
Various government departments actively participated in the campaign. At the Chief Medical Officer’s Office in Dehradun, a special rangoli was created under the theme ‘Seva Ke Rang Rashtra Ke Sang’, accompanied by diya lighting.
The rangoli highlighted the Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan, implemented under the National Health Mission, with a focus on maternal health and the safety of pregnant women.
Social Welfare Department Organises Programmes
The Social Welfare Department organised a diya-lighting programme at the Government De-addiction Centre in Raiwala, where 25 ‘Aashirwad Ke Diye’ were lit. A similar programme was also held at the Dr B.R. Ambedkar Boys’ Hostel, where diyas were lit to mark the launch of the campaign.
Participation Across Rural and Remote Areas
The campaign also reached rural and remote parts of the district. Programmes were organised across all Nyaya Panchayats and remote rural areas, with significant participation from local residents.
The activities focused on promoting awareness about public welfare initiatives, cleanliness, service and development while encouraging citizens to actively participate in community programmes.
Month-Long Series of Public Participation Programmes
Several social and public-awareness activities will be organised during the campaign from September 17 to October 18. These include ‘Mere Sapno Ka Bharat–Chitra Seva’, ‘Aangan Milan Seva’, ‘Seva Jyoti Kalash Yatra’, ‘Seva Setu Abhiyan’, ‘Seva First Innovation Challenge’ and ‘Sushasan Seva Samvad’.
The programmes are aimed at strengthening awareness of government initiatives and encouraging citizens to participate in activities related to public service and development.
Focus on Public Participation and Good Governance
The District Magistrate appealed to residents to actively participate in the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan. The campaign, he said, provides an effective platform for taking the message of good governance, service and development to the people through public participation.
Residents have been encouraged to participate in the various activities and contribute towards the collective goals of cleanliness, public service and a ‘Viksit Bharat’.
