DM Saves Student’s Future: Chitra Kalra Gets Immediate Admission After Father’s Death

Faced with Crisis After Father’s Demise, District Magistrate Steps In to Secure Chitra Kalra’s Education and Future

Dehradun, November 18:
In a heart-touching case of administrative empathy and prompt action, two sisters, Chitra and Hetal, approached District Magistrate (DM) Savin Bansal seeking relief after the tragic demise of their father. The sisters, burdened with an unpaid bank loan and financial devastation, feared losing both their education and their home.

Chitra, a brilliant student, faced a halt in her education due to the inability to pay fees for her B.Com (Honors). The sisters shared their plight with DM Bansal, who reacted immediately. Understanding the gravity of the situation, the DM arranged Chitra’s admission the same day in a prestigious private institution. She was escorted to the college in the official Saarthi vehicle of the district administration.

What’s Covered:

  • Tuition fees

  • Study materials and books

  • Daily commute expenses

All of this will be financed jointly by the district administration and the educational institution, ensuring Chitra’s uninterrupted education.

A Family’s Struggle: Education vs. Debt

Chitra and Hetal revealed that their father, who had taken a bank loan, passed away on October 23, 2025, after a prolonged illness. Unable to repay the loan, the family came under pressure from the bank and feared eviction.

The sisters made a humble plea to the DM for loan waiver. Responding sensitively, DM Bansal immediately instructed the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (Judicial) and Lead District Manager (LDM) to verify loan insurance and submit a report to initiate the process of debt relief.

Changing Face of Governance: Relief Under One Roof

This case highlights the new proactive approach of the Dehradun district administration—offering timely solutions to issues related to education, loan waivers, and employment.

Under the leadership of DM Savin Bansal:

  • Citizen grievances are being addressed rapidly

  • Cases are monitored through the LMS Portal

  • The DM personally supervises the status of urgent public interest matters

Residents are gaining confidence in the administration’s new work style, where timely action and compassionate governance are becoming the norm.

This intervention has not only saved Chitra’s academic future but has also given hope to many like her who struggle silently. The district administration’s efforts to provide dignity, support, and systemic solutions to its citizens are setting a new benchmark in public service delivery.
