Grand Thanksgiving Rally in Mangalore Celebrates UCC Implementation; CM Dhami Arrives on Tractor

Mangalore, Haridwar: A grand thanksgiving rally was held in the Mangalore Assembly constituency to mark the historic implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in Uttarakhand. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami made a dramatic entrance by driving a tractor to the venue, where he addressed an enthusiastic crowd.

The rally commenced from Chaudhary Ompal Dhaba in village Libbarheri and culminated at Sweety Farm. District Magistrate Mayur Dixit welcomed the Chief Minister at the main venue — the Sports Ground of Maharaja Mahendra Pratap Graduate College, Narsan. A floral shower from a helicopter marked the CM’s arrival, adding to the grandeur of the event.

Uttarakhand Leads the Way with UCC

In his address, CM Dhami proudly stated that Uttarakhand has become the first state in India to implement the Uniform Civil Code. “This is not a personal achievement, but a moment of pride for the 1.25 crore citizens of Uttarakhand,” he said. Paying tribute to Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, he called the UCC a significant step toward ensuring justice and equality across all communities.

Major Announcements for Farmers

Chief Minister Dhami made several key announcements aimed at strengthening the agricultural sector:

Kisan Credit Card limit raised from ₹3 lakh to ₹5 lakh

Bonus of ₹20 per quintal on wheat

₹20 per quintal increase in sugarcane procurement price

Subsidy up to 80% for horticulture initiatives

New horticulture policies for apple, kiwi, and dragon fruit, with an investment of ₹1,200 crore

Seven new agricultural projects totaling ₹14,000 crore

Zero Tolerance for Corruption

Reiterating his government’s firm stance on corruption, the CM highlighted strict action taken in the Haridwar land scam case, including proceedings against IAS and PCS officers. “No one will be spared, regardless of their position,” he emphasized.

Developmental Announcements for Mangalore

During the rally, CM Dhami also made two significant announcements for the development of Mangalore constituency:

Construction of a sports stadium in village Libbarheri, named after Maharaja Surajmal

Conversion of the Sirki canal track (from Mangalore to Gurukul, Landhaura bypass near Harchandpur bridge) into a paved road

Prominent Guests and Enthusiastic Public Response

The event witnessed the presence of several dignitaries, including MLA Pradeep Batra, former MLA Swami Yatishwaranand, BJP District President Dr. Madhu Singh, and former Cabinet Minister Kartar Singh Bhadana. Senior officials such as District Magistrate Mayur Dixit, SP Pramod Singh Doval, and ADM Deependra Singh Negi also attended.

Despite the sweltering heat, the rally drew a massive turnout of local residents — including women, senior citizens, and youth — reflecting widespread public support and enthusiasm.
