DEHRADUN: High-Speed De-Watering Pumps Prove Effective at Prince Chowk, Swiftly Resolve Waterlogging Issue

Dehradun — The high-speed de-watering pumps recently deployed by the district administration have started showing significant results in tackling urban waterlogging caused by heavy rainfall. A total of 17 pumps had been distributed to seven agencies, which were successfully utilized for the first time at Prince Chowk following intense rainfall.

After heavy downpours on July 29, waterlogging was reported at Prince Chowk. Acting promptly, the Quick Response Team (QRT), in coordination with the Smart City project and the Project Implementation Unit (PIU), deployed one of the high-speed pumps. The accumulated water was drained within minutes, restoring normal traffic movement in the area.

Continuous Monitoring of Urban Hotspots

Under the directions of District Magistrate Savin Bansal, the QRT has been conducting regular inspections of areas vulnerable to waterlogging. On July 29, the team inspected several such locations, including the Rispana catchment, Chandrabani, ISBT, Banjarawala, and Arcadia Grant. According to the Chief Municipal Health Officer, no waterlogging was observed during the field visits, indicating that proactive measures and quick response mechanisms are yielding positive outcomes.

Swift Resolution of Dirty Water Issue in Doon Jakhan

In a separate development, the administration took prompt action on a complaint lodged by Sanjay Nautiyal regarding the supply of dirty water in the Doon Jakhan area. Following the District Magistrate’s instructions, Additional District Magistrate (Administration) KK Mishra dispatched a Jal Sansthan team to the site. The team immediately rectified the issue by repairing the damaged pipeline, restoring clean water supply to the affected households. Residents have expressed their satisfaction and appreciation for the administration’s swift intervention.
