District Administration Ensures Good Governance Through Public Grievance Redressal
101 Complaints Registered in Janata Darbar, Most Resolved On the Spot
Dehradun: As part of the Chief Minister’s Jan Seva Sankalp and commitment to good governance, the district administration organized a public hearing on Monday at the Rishiparna Auditorium under the directions of District Magistrate Savin Bansal. The hearing was chaired by Additional District Magistrate (Administration) Jai Bharat Singh, where 101 complaints related to land disputes, encroachment, domestic issues, irrigation canals, flood protection, power and water bills, financial assistance, and compensation for natural calamities were received. A majority of these were resolved immediately during the hearing.

Electricity Relief for a Woman in Need:
A resident of Nashvilla Road pleaded for waiver of pending power bills and restoration of her electricity connection, explaining her husband’s alcoholism left her struggling to educate her children by working in households. On her request, UPCL officials were directed to investigate and extend necessary help. -
Land Dispute of a Senior Citizen:
A 70-year-old differently-abled man, Chaman Lal from Kargi Grant, complained of being harassed by his co-sharers despite his name being recorded in land records. The matter was referred to the SDM for immediate investigation. -
Obstruction of Irrigation Canal:
Complaints from Ganeshpur Kabari highlighted illegal plotting that blocked a canal, causing irrigation issues. The Tehsildar was asked to submit a report immediately. -
Delayed Case Settlement:
In Doiwala tehsil, a land case pending since 2014 was brought up. The SDM was instructed to ensure resolution within three months. -
Fraudulent Loan in Women’s Name:
Members of Saraswati Jagriti Self-Help Group reported a fraud where ₹5 lakh was taken using their IDs without their knowledge. The AR Cooperative was directed to conduct an urgent inquiry. Similarly, complaints were made against certain microfinance institutions allegedly duping members, for which victims were advised to file cases in magistrate court with evidence. -
Elderly Citizens’ Appeals:
A 74-year-old resident of Tapovan Enclave accused his son of neglecting his maintenance and harassing him over land. The SDM was asked to intervene. Another senior citizen, Tilak Singh Rana from Harbanswala, requested waiver of a hefty water bill despite not using the connection, which was referred to Jal Sansthan officials. -

Complaints against loud sound from gyms in Vikasnagar disturbing senior citizens and patients—MDDA and police were directed for immediate action.

Illegal cutting of mango trees in Rampur Kala for factory setup—SDM ordered to act promptly.

Damage to sewer line during Smart City works on Haridwar Road—Smart City authorities instructed to repair.

Request for flood protection works in Gohri Mafi—irrigation department asked to prepare a proposal.

Illegal wall construction by a former village pradhan blocking a main road in Misraj Patti—Tehsildar directed to investigate.

During the hearing, complaints of illegal land encroachment, incomplete land registry despite payment, delayed demarcation, and harassment by land mafias were also raised from areas including Cantt and Ajabpur.

Dhoundiyal, District Programme Officer Jitendra Kumar, District Probation Officer Meena Bisht, Tehsildars Satendra Dev and Vivek Rajouri, along with other district-level officials.
The ADM emphasized that all departments must treat public grievances with utmost seriousness and ensure time-bound resolution, reaffirming the district administration’s commitment to responsive governance.
