High-Level Meeting on JICA-Funded Horticulture Project Held at Secretariat

Dehradun: A high-level steering committee meeting of the JICA-funded Uttarakhand Integrated Horticulture Development Project was held at the Secretariat on Monday, chaired by Chief Secretary Anand Vardhan.

During the meeting, the Chief Secretary directed officials to finalize the financial and physical plans for the ongoing horticulture project. Emphasizing proactive monitoring, he instructed senior officials to conduct regular field visits to districts to review progress, assess challenges, and gather feedback directly from the ground.

Highlighting the need for a comprehensive approach, he urged that livelihood schemes related to fruits and vegetables from other departments be integrated into the project to maximize benefits for farmers.

Chief Secretary Vardhan further instructed that the Annual Work Plan (AWP) for the financial year 2026-27 should be completed by January 2026. He stressed that district-wise targets must be set to ensure timely completion of project activities. Additionally, a year-wise plan with clear milestones for the entire project duration should be prepared to track progress effectively.

The meeting was attended by Secretary Sridhar Babu Addanki, Dr. S.N. Pandey, Director General of Agriculture, Horticulture Director Vandana, and senior officials from the Agriculture, Horticulture, and Aromatic Plants Center.
