6 Calls Received on Uttarakhand Helpline Following Devastating Disaster in Nepal
Dehradun: Following the devastating disaster in Nepal, the Uttarakhand government has established helpline numbers at the State Emergency Operations Centre (SEOC) to assist citizens of Uttarakhand who may be affected or stranded in the neighbouring country.
Secretary, Disaster Management and Rehabilitation, Vinod Kumar Suman, said that the State Emergency Operations Centre has received a total of six phone calls so far regarding the situation. The information received through these calls has been shared with the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Government of India, for necessary action.
Suman further informed that the SEOC is maintaining continuous contact and coordination with the MHA to facilitate the timely exchange of information related to Uttarakhand citizens in Nepal and to ensure all possible assistance is extended wherever required.
The State Emergency Operations Centre continues to monitor the situation and is coordinating with the concerned authorities on the basis of information received from Nepal.
The state government has appealed to citizens to share any important information concerning Uttarakhand residents in Nepal, or seek assistance through the designated helpline numbers of the State Emergency Operations Centre.
