Haridwar: Offline registration for the Char Dham Yatra is set to begin from April 25 at the transit camp located near the Rishikesh bus stand. Meanwhile, online registration has already commenced. Pilgrims are required to register—either online or offline—to participate in the sacred journey.
The Char Dham Yatra will officially begin on April 30 with the opening of the portals of Gangotri and Yamunotri Dham. Kedarnath Dham will open on May 2, followed by Badrinath Dham on May 4.
In a significant development, Uttarakhand Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan visited Haridwar on Wednesday to review preparations for the upcoming Kumbh Mela in 2027 and the ongoing Char Dham Yatra arrangements. He held a high-level meeting with senior district officials, including Mela Adhikari Karmendra Singh, at the camp office in Mayapur.
During the meeting, CS Bardhan emphasized that preparations for Kumbh-2027 are already in motion. A government-level meeting will be held in the next 7–8 days to outline detailed plans. He stressed the importance of involving sadhus, saints, and religious leaders in the planning process, stating that all measures will be taken in consultation with them to ensure the event reflects the spiritual and cultural significance of Haridwar, the Kumbh Nagari.
On the Char Dham Yatra front, the Chief Secretary assured that all necessary arrangements are being made by the state government. “Wherever support is needed from the district administration or governance level, it is being provided. Stakeholder discussions are ongoing, and district officials are conducting on-ground inspections to ensure smooth travel for pilgrims,” he said.
He also issued an appeal to all states, dignitaries, and VIPs to avoid scheduling their visits during the initial days of the yatra, as the number of devotees is expected to be the highest during that period.
CS Bardhan, who previously served as District Magistrate and Vice President of HRDA in Haridwar, as well as Mela Adhikari during the 2010 Kumbh, reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring seamless arrangements for both the Char Dham Yatra and the Kumbh Mela. He mentioned that several officials are already deployed in the field to manage preparations at the grassroots level.
When asked about the upcoming Purna Kumbh, he responded that further decisions will be taken after discussions with sages and saints, respecting their guidance in shaping the event.
