Dehradun, May 15: In a historic development, the President’s residence complex located on Rajpur Road in Dehradun will be opened to the public for the first time starting June. President Droupadi Murmu will formally inaugurate the complex on June 20, marking a significant moment for the state of Uttarakhand.
On the same day, the President will also lay the foundation stone for a 132-acre ultra-modern green park within the premises. This park, designed with world-class facilities, is expected to be completed and fully accessible to the public by next year.
Preparations for the President’s visit were reviewed in a high-level meeting chaired by Dr. Rakesh Gupta, Additional Secretary to the President. He directed all concerned departments to ensure timely completion of all arrangements. Present at the meeting were Secretary Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar, District Magistrate Savin Bansal, Senior Superintendent of Police Ajai Singh, and other senior officials.
The proposed green park is envisioned as a major environmental and cultural landmark for Dehradun. It will feature lush landscaping, an amphitheater for cultural events, a visitor center, performance venues, a cafeteria, souvenir shops, and horse stables—offering a unique blend of nature and heritage.
This ambitious project was initiated following a proposal by District Magistrate Savin Bansal, which was submitted to the President’s Secretariat in January. Dr. Gupta praised the DM’s initiative, describing it as a “visionary step” toward sustainable urban development.
Speaking about the significance of the President’s visit, Dr. Gupta said, “This occasion will bring a remarkable gift to Uttarakhand. Along with the opening of the Ashiana complex, the city will gain a vital hub promoting greenery, ecological balance, and cultural enrichment.”
All infrastructure—roads, electricity, water supply, traffic management, parking, and security—will be fully in place ahead of the inauguration.
