CM Dhami Releases Teaser and Poster of Documentary ‘The Great Himalayan Rescue’
Documentary Highlights Historic Silkyara Tunnel Rescue Operation

Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Friday released the teaser and poster of the documentary ‘The Great Himalayan Rescue’, produced under the banner of Parivartan Pictures and directed by Rishabh Kohli and Prashant Upadhyay.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Dhami said that the documentary powerfully captures the spirit of collective effort, human compassion, and unwavering determination. He described the Silkyara tunnel rescue operation as an inspiring and historic chapter in Uttarakhand’s journey, where multiple agencies, the administration, and local residents worked together with unprecedented coordination and commitment.
The Chief Minister stated that the documentary will enable viewers to witness not only the technical expertise involved in the rescue operation but also the indomitable spirit and resilience of Uttarakhand. He emphasized that ‘The Great Himalayan Rescue’ symbolizes the state’s ethos of “resolve and service”, and will inspire the younger generation by conveying a strong message of patience, perseverance, and dedication during challenging times.
Director Rishabh Kohli said that the documentary is based on the Silkyara tunnel rescue operation, narrating the entire historic event in detail, with Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami himself serving as the narrator. He noted that the film authentically portrays the complex technical challenges, human courage, and extraordinary leadership displayed during the rescue, while also reflecting Uttarakhand’s cultural roots, emotions, and collective strength.
The documentary was filmed entirely in Uttarakhand, capturing real locations and ground realities associated with the operation. Rishabh Kohli added that ‘The Great Himalayan Rescue’ will be released soon on a major OTT platform, making this remarkable story accessible to audiences across the country and beyond.
Also present at the event were CEO of Uttarakhand Film Development Council Banshidhar Tiwari, senior journalist Anupam Trivedi, Chairman of Uttarakhand Waqf Board Shadab Shams, director Rishabh Kohli, and his father, senior journalist Neeraj Kohli.
