Chief Minister Takes Strict Action Over Lapses; Police Department on Alert

Dehradun:
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami conducted a surprise inspection of the Dalanwala Police Station in Dehradun on Friday to assess the ground-level functioning of the police. During the inspection, the Station House Officer (SHO) was found absent from duty, following which the Chief Minister ordered his immediate line attachment.
Expressing strong displeasure, Chief Minister Dhami stated that negligence in sensitive responsibilities such as law and order and public service is completely unacceptable and will invite immediate and strict action.

The Chief Minister reached the police station unexpectedly after attending official meetings. His sudden visit caused a stir within the police department and exposed the actual state of affairs at the station. During the inspection, he found disorder and unhygienic conditions in the premises and issued strict instructions for immediate rectification.
Interacting directly with complainants present at the police station, the Chief Minister listened carefully to their grievances. He instructed police personnel to treat complaints not as a mere formality but as a serious responsibility, ensuring prompt, impartial and effective resolution. He reiterated the government’s zero-tolerance policy towards negligence in public service.

Chief Minister Dhami also inspected the Women Help Desk and interacted with women complainants. He emphasized that cases related to women’s safety must be handled with utmost sensitivity, confidentiality and urgency, warning of strict action in the event of any laxity.
The Chief Minister conducted a detailed examination of the FIR register, reviewing the progress of registered cases, follow-up actions and the status of pending matters. He also checked the duty and attendance registers and directed officials to ensure accountability and discipline among police personnel.
Expressing serious concern over unhygienic conditions in the lock-up area, the Chief Minister ordered immediate cleanliness and adherence to prescribed standards. He remarked that the condition of a police station reflects the work culture and sensitivity of the administration.
Reviewing vehicle checking drives, verification campaigns and crime control measures, the Chief Minister made it clear that any slackness in these operations would not be tolerated. He also expressed dissatisfaction with traffic management in the area and ordered a detailed inquiry to fix responsibility.
Following the Chief Minister’s directions, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Dehradun, rushed to the police station, reviewed the situation on the spot and initiated necessary disciplinary action.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami stated firmly,
“Every officer and employee associated with law and order is accountable to the people. Negligence, indiscipline or insensitivity in public service will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Strengthening policing, transparency and accountability remains our top priority, and the government will not hesitate to take the strictest action in public interest.”
