Inter-Departmental Badminton Competition to Continue Regularly, Says CM
Uttarakhand Rapidly Emerging as a ‘Sports Hub’ with World-Class Facilities

Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami emphasized that sports play a vital role in promoting discipline, maintaining good health, and relieving stress, especially for government employees engaged in demanding official responsibilities. He said that good health is a person’s greatest asset, and sports are the most effective means to achieve physical and mental well-being.
The Chief Minister expressed confidence that the inter-departmental badminton competition would continue to be organized regularly in the future and would infuse positive energy among officers and employees while encouraging a healthy work-life balance.

Chief Minister Dhami was speaking on Saturday after inaugurating the 10th Inter-Departmental Badminton Competition–2025, organized by the Uttarakhand Secretariat Badminton Club, at the Multipurpose Sports Hall, Parade Ground, Dehradun. On the occasion, the Chief Minister also boosted the morale of the players by actively participating in a badminton match himself.
Employees and officers from 42 state government departments are taking part in the tournament, reflecting widespread enthusiasm and participation across the administration.
The Chief Minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Uttarakhand is rapidly emerging as a model state for the country. He noted that the state is progressing on the path of transformation through innovation, historic decisions, and people-centric policies, setting new benchmarks of development in various sectors.
Highlighting the achievements in the field of sports, CM Dhami said that the successful hosting of the National Games in Uttarakhand for the first time has significantly strengthened the state’s sports infrastructure. As a result, international-level sports facilities have been developed, giving a major boost to athletes and sporting activities in the state.
He reiterated that the government is making continuous efforts to promote sports in Devbhoomi Uttarakhand and develop the state as a ‘Sports Hub’, enabling young talents to showcase their skills and excel at national and international platforms.
Badminton Club President Heera Singh Basera said that under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, international-standard sports facilities are being rapidly developed across the state. He added that continuous encouragement and improved resources for players are helping Uttarakhand establish itself as an emerging sporting powerhouse.
Several dignitaries were present on the occasion, including MLA Khajan Das, Principal Secretary R.K. Sudhanshu, Badminton Club President Hira Singh Basera, Pramod Kumar, Bhupendra Basera, J.P. Maikhuri, along with numerous officers, employees, and players.
