Ration Card Services Go Online Through URCMS Portal, New Cards Can Now Be Made from Home
Dehradun, May 16, 2026:
In a major step toward making ration card services more transparent, convenient, and technology-driven under the Government of India’s Smart PDS Scheme, the Unified Ration Card Management System (URCMS) portal has been implemented in the state. With the new system, citizens can now apply for new ration cards, add or remove family members, and make other necessary corrections from the comfort of their homes.
The government has upgraded the old Ration Card Management System (RCMS) portal with modern technology and simplified procedures to develop the new URCMS portal. The initiative aims to provide citizens with faster, more transparent, and user-friendly services.
Under the new arrangement, people will no longer need to make repeated visits to government offices or fair price shops for ration card-related services. Citizens can directly log in through the “Citizen Login” section on the official portal and submit applications online by uploading the required documents.
For new ration card applications, applicants will have to complete Aadhaar-based OTP verification. Meanwhile, for any modification in existing ration cards, login through the registered mobile number of the head of the family will be mandatory. Changes in the ration card will only be possible after OTP verification. Therefore, the registered mobile number of the family head must remain active and linked with the ration card.
District Supply Officer K.K. Agrawal said that several important improvements have been introduced while transforming the old RCMS portal into the URCMS portal. He stated that the new digital system will make ration card-related services more transparent, efficient, and citizen-friendly. He further informed that people facing difficulties in online applications can also avail assistance at tehsil offices and district supply offices.
Appeal to Existing Ration Card Holders for e-KYC Completion
District Supply Officer K.K. Agrawal has appealed to all existing ration card holders to complete their e-KYC process within the stipulated timeline. He advised beneficiaries to complete their e-KYC before May 30 through the “Mera e-KYC” mobile application from home to avoid any inconvenience in future ration distribution services.
