UTTARAKHAND NEWS: Govt presents Rs 1,01,175 crore Budget in House

The Finance minister Prem Chand Agarwal presented a budget of Rs 1,01,175.33  crore for the financial year 2025-26 in Vidhan Sabha on the third day of the budget session on Thursday. This time the budget is 13.38 percent more than the current financial year. It is  claimed that For the first time, the state budget has crossed Rs one lakh crore and the size of the budget has increased 24 times in 24 years. In his speech, the Finance Minister reiterated the resolve of strong Uttarakhand’s contribution to developed India. He said that the government will fulfill this resolution with knowledge and Namo Mantra. 

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, while talking formally to the media after the presentation of the budget in the Assembly, congratulated the Finance Minister and the entire team for presenting a historic budget in the silver jubilee year of Uttarakhand. He said that the budget presents the priorities and resolutions of the state government. Which presents the future plans of the government. 

He claimed that in the silver jubilee year of state formation, the size of the budget has crossed 01 lakh crore. There has been a 13 percent increase in this year’s budget compared to the previous budget. This year’s budget is 24 times more than the first budget of the state of Uttarakhand. The budget has been prepared keeping in mind ecology, economy, innovation, inclusive and sustainable development as well as technology and accountability. Many new aspects like River Front Development Scheme, formation of Pravasi Uttarakhand Parishad, operation of electric buses under Smart City, establishment of Sports University, formation of Home Guard Welfare Fund, establishment of revolving fund for the encouragement of police personnel have been included in it.

CM Dhami reminded that this budget is based on the theme of (NaMo) i.e. innovation, self-reliant Uttarakhand, great heritage and vigorous human resources. He said that in the budget, (Gyan) i.e. poor welfare, youth, farmers and women welfare have been kept at the center for the inclusive and holistic development of the state. The state government has also laid special emphasis on financial management in this budget. He said that we will try to increase the income of the state from our resources. In the budget, special attention has also been given to the development of education, rural development, infrastructure, medical, industry etc. 

The CM stated that this budget is in line with the basic mantra of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas and Sabka Prayas. He said that the Prime Minister had said from Baba Kedarnath’s Dham that the third decade of this century will be the decade of Uttarakhand, with this aim in mind, efforts have been made in the budget to achieve this resolution, which will prove to be a milestone in the development of the state in the times to come. He said that this budget will fulfill the resolution of making an ideal Uttarakhand and bringing Uttarakhand in the category of leading states of the country.
