CM to Conduct Surprise Road Inspections After October 15; Directs Officials to Ensure Better Char Dham Yatra Arrangements
Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Monday reviewed various public welfare-related issues at the Secretariat and directed officials to ensure that all roads across Uttarakhand are made pothole-free at the earliest. He instructed officials to expedite the repair and improvement of roads damaged during the monsoon and ensure that road construction and repair works meet the required quality standards.
The Chief Minister directed District Magistrates to regularly review the condition of roads in their respective districts and ensure effective monitoring of the work being carried out by concerned departments and executing agencies. He emphasized that repair and construction works should be completed within the stipulated timelines and that quality should not be compromised at any level.
CM Dhami said that after October 15, he may travel by road at any time to conduct surprise inspections and personally assess the condition of roads. He directed officials to give priority to repairing major roads as well as important connecting routes before the inspections.
Focus on Better Char Dham Yatra Arrangements
The Chief Minister also reviewed the arrangements for the Char Dham Yatra and directed officials to ensure that all arrangements related to the pilgrimage remain efficient and well-maintained.
He said the safety and convenience of pilgrims must remain the top priority. Regular monitoring should be carried out along the pilgrimage routes with regard to traffic management, healthcare facilities, drinking water, sanitation and other essential services.
CM Dhami instructed the concerned District Magistrates and departments to work in close coordination to ensure smooth management of the pilgrimage. Any shortcomings in arrangements along the routes should be addressed promptly.
Third Phase of ‘Jan-Jan Ki Sarkar, Jan-Jan Ke Dwar’ to Be Strengthened
The Chief Minister also reviewed preparations for the third phase of the ‘Jan-Jan Ki Sarkar, Jan-Jan Ke Dwar’ campaign and directed officials to make it more effective.
He instructed that maximum numbers of people should be connected with government schemes and public services through camps and that, as far as possible, public grievances should be resolved on the spot.
He said the objective of these camps is to bring governance and administration closer to the people and ensure timely resolution of their problems. Eligible beneficiaries should also be provided information and assistance regarding various government schemes and services.
Effective Implementation of ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ Emphasized
CM Dhami also reviewed preparations for the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ and directed officials to ensure effective and timely implementation of all programmes proposed under the campaign.
He said the campaign should focus on public service, public participation and public welfare. Maximum participation of people should be ensured in the programmes, while more citizens should be connected with government schemes and services.
Preparations Strengthened to Prevent Swine Flu and Waterborne Diseases
The Chief Minister also reviewed preparations for the prevention of swine flu and other infectious and waterborne diseases. He directed District Magistrates to conduct regular inspections of hospitals and assess cleanliness arrangements, availability of essential medicines and other medical supplies.
He instructed the Health Department and district administrations to work in close coordination to ensure all necessary arrangements for disease prevention, treatment and effective control.
The Chief Minister also emphasized the need for continuous monitoring so that any emerging health-related situation can be addressed promptly and effectively.
No Laxity in Public Welfare Work
CM Dhami said there should be no laxity at any level in matters related to public welfare. Government and administrative officials should work in coordination and ensure that the benefits of government schemes and services reach eligible beneficiaries in a timely manner.
He directed officials to regularly review the resolution of public grievances, the quality of development works and the implementation of government schemes so that people can receive the intended benefits of government initiatives.
Principal Secretaries R.K. Sudhanshu, L. Phanai and Dr. R. Meenakshi Sundaram, Secretary Shailesh Bagauli, Director General of Police Deepam Seth, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (HoFF) Kapil Lal, other Secretaries, heads of various departments and all District Magistrates through video conferencing were present at the meeting.
