Heavy Vehicle Movement Restricted on Dehradun–Mussoorie Road Due to Rain Damage
Dehradun: In view of incessant heavy rainfall, the administration has taken precautionary measures to ensure the safety of commuters on the Dehradun–Mussoorie route. A pre-existing retaining wall near Paniwala Band on the Dehradun–Mussoorie road has been damaged due to excessive rainfall.
Considering the safety of the general public, the movement of heavy vehicles on the route has been prohibited until further orders. The restriction has been imposed under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023, through an order issued by the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Mussoorie.
Immediate Repair Work Underway
The concerned department has initiated immediate measures to repair the damaged portion of the road and strengthen the affected area. Necessary safety arrangements are also being undertaken to facilitate the safe movement of commuters once conditions permit.
The administration has urged drivers and travellers to strictly follow traffic advisories and instructions issued by the authorities until the situation returns to normal.
USDMA Issues Safety Advisory Amid Heavy Rainfall
The Uttarakhand State Disaster Management Authority (USDMA) has also appealed to the public through its social media platforms to exercise extreme caution while travelling during the monsoon season.
People have been advised to remain alert and assess prevailing weather and road conditions before undertaking any journey. Authorities have particularly cautioned commuters against travelling through areas vulnerable to landslides, road damage and waterlogging.

The administration has appealed to commuters to follow these precautions:
- Avoid unnecessary travel during periods of heavy rainfall.
- Check the latest weather and road conditions before starting a journey.
- Exercise extreme caution in areas affected by landslides, waterlogging or damaged roads.
- Strictly follow traffic and safety instructions issued by the administration and police.
- Avoid stopping or travelling unnecessarily in vulnerable areas.
- Do not take any risk while travelling and give the safety of yourself and your family the highest priority.
Public Urged to Prioritise Safety
With heavy rainfall continuing across parts of Uttarakhand, the possibility of landslides, road subsidence and damage to hill roads remains a concern. The administration has therefore urged residents and tourists to take weather warnings seriously and undertake travel only when necessary.
Authorities have reiterated that public safety remains the top priority. Commuters are advised to cooperate with the administration and comply with the restriction on heavy vehicles until further orders.
