Uttarkashi: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in the Seva Jyoti Kalash Yatra and Seva Sankalp Sabha in Uttarkashi on Wednesday, organised to mark the completion of 25 years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s public service. The Chief Minister reiterated the state government’s commitment to contributing actively to the vision of Viksit Bharat and making Uttarakhand one of the leading states in the country. He also announced the development of the Vishwanath-Shakti Temple Corridor in Uttarkashi and several other initiatives.
Before the event, the Chief Minister offered prayers at the historic Kashi Vishwanath Temple and Shakti Temple in Uttarkashi, seeking peace, prosperity and well-being for the people of the state. He subsequently attended the programme at the historic Ramlila Maidan, where he also watched the broadcast of the event commemorating the Prime Minister’s 25 years of public service.

Public Service, Good Governance and Welfare at the Core of PM Modi’s Leadership
Dhami said that over the past 25 years of his public life, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has consistently placed public service, good governance and the welfare of the poor at the centre of his priorities. The Seva Jyoti Kalash Yatra, he said, symbolises the commitment to public service, national spirit and public welfare.
He highlighted initiatives such as the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, Jal Jeevan Mission, Ayushman Bharat and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, stating that these programmes have helped extend government welfare benefits to people at the grassroots level. He added that governance has increasingly focused on reaching citizens directly rather than remaining confined to government offices and files.
Uttarakhand Working Towards PM Modi’s Vision
The Chief Minister recalled that Prime Minister Modi had described the third decade of the 21st century as Uttarakhand’s decade from the land of Baba Kedar. He said the state government was working with commitment to realise this vision.
According to Dhami, the state is expanding road, rail and air connectivity while creating new opportunities in industry, tourism, employment and self-employment.
He stated that Uttarakhand’s economy had grown more than 1.5 times over the past four years, while per capita income had increased by over 41 per cent. More than 20,000 new industries have been established in the state. The number of hotels has increased by approximately 25 per cent, while homestays have grown by more than 50 per cent.
The Chief Minister also noted that more than three lakh women in Uttarakhand have become Lakhpati Didis. The state has secured the top position in the Sustainable Development Goals Index and has received the Most Film Friendly State recognition for four consecutive years. Uttarakhand has also achieved the status of a fully literate state.
Over 5.6 Million Pilgrims Visit Char Dham This Year
Dhami said the state government was continuously working to make the Char Dham Yatra safe, accessible and well-organised. Improved arrangements and facilities have helped strengthen pilgrims’ confidence, with more than 5.6 million devotees having undertaken the pilgrimage so far this year.
He further stated that 50 development projects worth more than Rs 200 crore had been inaugurated through foundation stone-laying ceremonies in Uttarkashi district. Of these, work on 26 projects has been completed, while the remaining 24 are in progress.
CM Highlights Uniform Civil Code and Transparent Recruitment
The Chief Minister said Uttarakhand became the first state in India to implement the Uniform Civil Code. He also highlighted the introduction of legislation relating to religious conversion, riots, land regulation and examination malpractice.
Dhami stated that more than 35,000 young people had secured government jobs on merit over nearly five years, supported by a transparent recruitment system and strict anti-cheating measures.
He emphasised that the vision of Viksit Bharat must be translated into the duties and responsibilities of every citizen. The state government, he said, remains committed to developing Uttarakhand in line with the Prime Minister’s vision and positioning it among the country’s leading states.
Vishwanath-Shakti Temple Corridor to Boost Religious Tourism
Announcing the proposed Vishwanath-Shakti Temple Corridor in Uttarkashi, the Chief Minister said the sacred temples of Baba Vishwanath and Maa Shakti hold immense religious significance for devotees.
The corridor is expected to improve facilities for pilgrims, strengthen religious tourism and generate additional employment and self-employment opportunities for local residents.
Healthcare, Education and Tourism Development in Focus
Dhami said the proposal to upgrade the Primary Health Centre at Dhauntari in the Gajna region would be examined. He also stated that a proposal for establishing a Kendriya Vidyalaya in Bhatwari had been sent to the Union Government, and efforts would be made to secure approval at the earliest.
The state government will also take forward development and beautification initiatives relating to Dodital, Avana Bugyal and Hari Maharaj Saud Bugyal, he said.
The Chief Minister further announced that Uttarkashi District Hospital would be named after former MLA Late Gopal Singh Rawat.
District Panchayat Chairperson Ramesh Chauhan, Gangotri MLA Suresh Chauhan, Purola MLA Durgeshwar Lal, former MLAs Vijaypal Sajwan and Kedar Singh Rawat, District Magistrate Prashant Arya, Superintendent of Police Kamlesh Upadhyay, Chief Development Officer Jai Bharat Singh, other public representatives and officials, and a large number of local residents attended the programme.
