Special Welfare Camp Organized for Sanitation Workers on Kanwali Road; 250 Beneficiaries Applied for Government Schemes
98 People Underwent Health Check-ups; 150 Assistive Devices and Welfare Kits Distributed
Dehradun:
Under the directions of District Magistrate Dr. Ashish Chauhan, the Social Welfare Department organized a special multi-purpose welfare camp at the Valmiki Temple Complex, Valmiki Nagar (Ward No. 24), Kanwali Road, to ensure that sanitation workers and their dependents receive the benefits of various Central and State Government welfare schemes at their doorstep.
The camp witnessed active participation from multiple government departments, which provided detailed information about their respective welfare schemes and facilitated on-the-spot registration and application processes for eligible beneficiaries.
A large number of sanitation workers and local residents attended the camp. The Social Welfare Department informed beneficiaries about pension schemes, self-employment and loan schemes, and other social welfare initiatives. A total of 250 eligible beneficiaries submitted applications to avail themselves of various government schemes during the camp.
The Health Department conducted free medical examinations for 98 people, offering health consultations and distributing essential medicines free of cost to those in need.
The Women and Child Development Department distributed one Mahalakshmi Kit, five Kishori Kits, and two God Bharai (Maternal Care) Kits to eligible beneficiaries, promoting maternal and adolescent health and nutrition.
In collaboration with the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO), 150 assistive devices were distributed to five senior citizens to support their mobility and daily living needs. The assistive devices were handed over in the presence of Bhagwat Prasad Makwana, Vice Chairman of the Uttarakhand State Safai Karamchari Commission.
Speaking on the occasion, Bhagwat Prasad Makwana appreciated the District Administration and the Social Welfare Department for organizing such outreach camps in underprivileged settlements. He said these camps play a crucial role in ensuring that government welfare schemes effectively reach the last person in society, in line with the government’s commitment to inclusive development. He urged local residents to actively participate in such camps and make full use of the facilities and welfare schemes being offered.
The District Administration stated that the objective of these multi-purpose welfare camps is to provide multiple government services under one roof, making it easier for eligible beneficiaries to access welfare schemes without visiting multiple government offices.
The camp was attended by Assistant Manager Digambar Sajwan, Hostel Superintendent Akashdeep, Municipal Councillor Vishal, officials from various departments, public representatives, and local residents.
