Students’ Suggestions Will Be Incorporated into Government Policies: CM Pushkar Singh Dhami
CM Dhami launches ‘Mukhyamantri Yuva Vidyarthi Manthan’ portal; over 3 lakh Class 11 and 12 students participate virtually
Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Monday participated in the ‘Mukhyamantri Yuva Vidyarthi Manthan’ programme held at Mukhya Sevak Sadan at the Chief Minister’s residence. On the occasion, he launched the ‘Mukhyamantri Yuva Vidyarthi Manthan’ portal and inaugurated an essay competition for school students on the theme ‘My Dream Uttarakhand: My Vision for a Developed State.’
More than 3 lakh students from Classes 11 and 12 representing 2,828 government and private schools across Uttarakhand participated in the programme virtually.
During their interaction with the Chief Minister, students shared suggestions on promoting sports, introducing sports periods four days a week, expanding opportunities available in schools, making Uttarakhand a leading state in higher education, promoting tourism activities and ensuring that environmental protection remains a priority alongside development.
Taking note of the suggestions, Chief Minister Dhami directed officials to prepare an action plan based on the students’ inputs. He said that valuable suggestions made by students would also be incorporated into government policies and programmes.
140 Students to Be Honoured
Chief Minister Dhami announced that 140 students who perform exceptionally well in the essay competition will be honoured. The state government will also bear the cost of coaching for prestigious competitive examinations such as NEET, JEE, CLAT and SAT, along with other necessary fees, for the selected students.
He said the initiative would provide talented students with opportunities and resources to move forward towards their goals.
‘Understanding Subjects Is More Important Than Marks’
Addressing the students, CM Dhami said that students are the present and future of the country and that the young generation of today will lead Uttarakhand and India in the future.
He urged students to work consistently towards fulfilling their dreams and to learn from challenges. He said that while examination marks are important, a strong understanding of subjects is more important than merely securing high marks.
The Chief Minister advised students to change the way they approach studies and view education not as a burden but as a means of shaping their future. He stressed the importance of values, discipline, hard work and continuous learning in achieving success.
‘A Leader Is One Who Excels in His or Her Field’
CM Dhami encouraged students to aspire to become leaders in their respective fields. He said that a true leader is someone who performs the best in their area of work and also creates opportunities for others to move forward.
He said that dedication to one’s work, sensitivity towards society and commitment to one’s responsibilities can leave a lasting legacy.
“Success in life is not merely about moving ahead yourself, but also about helping others move forward,” he said.
The Chief Minister urged students to use their talent and energy positively and contribute to the development of society and Uttarakhand.
‘There Should Be No Alternative to a Firm Resolve’
CM Dhami called upon students to set clear goals and pursue them with determination. He said that challenges should not be viewed merely as failures but as opportunities to learn and progress.
He urged young people to remain committed to their goals and said that a strong resolve, backed by continuous effort, is essential for achieving success.
Use AI Wisely, But Do Not Let It Replace Your Thinking
Speaking about the growing use of Artificial Intelligence, the Chief Minister advised students to use AI judiciously and only when genuinely required.
He said AI can be useful and knowledge-enhancing, but excessive dependence on technology may have adverse effects on an individual’s ability to think and learn independently.
Students, he said, should first use their own intelligence, judgement and analytical abilities, while also learning from teachers and their experience. AI can then be used as a supporting tool whenever necessary.
“Technology should be our assistant, not a substitute for our ability to think and learn,” he said.
Equal Focus on Education and Sports
The Chief Minister emphasised the importance of sports alongside academics for the overall development of students.
He said the successful organisation of the National Games in Uttarakhand has created greater awareness about sports among young people and society. Students are now increasingly looking at sports as a career option and working hard to excel in different disciplines.
CM Dhami also highlighted the state government’s Mukhyamantri Udyaman Khiladi Unnayan Yojana, aimed at encouraging and supporting emerging sporting talent.
Government Ready to Listen to Students
CM Dhami said that he understands the aspirations, ideas and expectations of the younger generation and emphasised the need for continuous dialogue with students.
He said that the channels of communication would always remain open for students to share their problems, suggestions and ideas. The government, he added, is committed to listening to young people and considering their suggestions.
The Chief Minister said that continuous dialogue can lead to better understanding and help build a better future for Uttarakhand and its youth.
