Dehradun DM Conducts Surprise Inspection, Illegal Land Registrations and Record Seizures Reported

DM’s Surprise Raid at Vikasnagar Sub-Registrar Office Exposes Major Irregularities; Old Deed Registers Seized, Stamp Duty Evasion Detected

Dehradun:
District Magistrate Savin Bansal conducted a surprise inspection at the Sub-Registrar Office in Vikasnagar on Monday, uncovering several serious irregularities. The raid revealed significant administrative lapses, violations of rules, and financial discrepancies.

During the inspection, original deed registers from the years 2018, 2024, and 2025 were found in suspicious condition within the office premises. These documents were immediately taken into custody and seized for further investigation. Preliminary findings also indicated that registrations of land prohibited for sale had been carried out, which constitutes a clear violation of legal provisions.

The investigation further exposed cases of stamp duty evasion, with 47 instances identified under Section 47-A. These cases point to substantial revenue loss and will be subject to strict legal action as per regulations.

Additionally, the inspection highlighted lack of transparency in office functioning, poor record maintenance, and multiple procedural violations. The District Administration has directed that a detailed report be prepared and submitted to the state government covering all findings.

DM Savin Bansal has ordered a comprehensive investigation into the tenure of both current and previous Sub-Registrars, stating that all suspicious activities will be thoroughly examined. Strict departmental and legal action will be taken against officials found guilty.

The district administration reiterated its zero-tolerance stance on negligence, corruption, and irregularities in matters concerning public interest, emphasizing that ensuring a transparent and accountable system remains a top priority.

Officials present during the inspection included SDM Headquarters Apoorva Singh, DGC Nitin Vashisth, Tehsildar Vikasnagar Vivek Rajouri, along with other staff members.
