District Magistrate Dr Ashish Chauhan Hoists National Flag at Dehradun Collectorate on Independence Day
Calls upon officials and employees to uphold the values of freedom, national unity and integrity
Dehradun, August 15, 2026: On the occasion of the 80th Independence Day, District Magistrate Dr Ashish Chauhan hoisted the national flag at the Collectorate premises in Dehradun. Officers and employees present on the occasion saluted the Tricolour and joined in the national song and national anthem, reaffirming their commitment to the freedom, unity and integrity of the nation.
Extending Independence Day greetings to the people of Dehradun district and the entire Collectorate family, District Magistrate Dr Ashish Chauhan said that India attained freedom after immense sacrifices by countless freedom fighters and citizens. Thousands of people dedicated their lives to the freedom struggle and made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation. Their courage, struggle and sacrifice made it possible for citizens to live and perform their responsibilities in a free India today.
The District Magistrate said that protecting the country’s freedom and safeguarding national unity, integrity and democratic values is the collective responsibility of every citizen. He said Independence Day provides an opportunity to remember not only the rights enjoyed by citizens but also their duties towards the nation and society.
Dr Chauhan called upon all officers and employees to discharge their assigned responsibilities with complete dedication, honesty, transparency and sensitivity. He said the fundamental objective of government service is to serve the public and work in the larger public interest.
He urged every officer and employee to play an effective role in ensuring that government schemes and public welfare programmes reach eligible beneficiaries in a timely and transparent manner. He emphasized that efficient delivery of public services should remain a key priority of the administration.
The District Magistrate said the sacrifices of freedom fighters should inspire everyone to make an active contribution towards nation-building. He called upon officials and employees to perform their duties with a strong sense of responsibility, accountability and commitment, keeping public service and the welfare of citizens at the forefront.
The Collectorate premises reflected an atmosphere of patriotism and national pride throughout the ceremony. Officers and employees paid tribute to the heroes of the freedom struggle and pledged to work with dedication in the national interest and towards public welfare.
Additional District Magistrate (Administration) Smrita Parmar, City Magistrate Rakesh Tiwari, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (Sadar) Apoorva Singh, Chief Personal Officer to the District Magistrate Virendra Singh, along with other Collectorate officials and employees, Collectorate Press personnel and District Information Office personnel, were present on the occasion.
